When I was a kid, I felt no stress: Christmas was my favorite time of year. The season started with shopping for a new dress to wear to church and to holiday functions. My car, a 2002 Honda Civic EX coupe, is ugly. While I would prefer the ugliness to be less pronounced, it's over 13 years old. It’s reliable, rarely needs repairs, the insurance is cheap, and since I bought it with cash over eight years ago, I've never had a monthly payment....more
"My daughter, when it ends, it ends," my father said. "There is nothing more to it than that and there is nothing you can do about it. In time, there will be something new; still wonderful, still worthwhile."
