If you were raised as I was, in the old school, American South way, meaning Sunday School on Sundays and heavy doses of "home training" anytime, anyplace, then you may know why an assignment to write about "five things you're proud of from 2009" shook me up a bit. I can only think of one moment in my personal history where saying "I'm proud," was cool with the folks, and the props go to the Godfather of Soul, James Brown, for that.
Almost six weeks ago Lisa, Jory and I asked for your feedback and help on making BlogHer '10 even better than BlogHer '09 in a post we called: We're listening. And here's what we're mulling over so far...
Another fabulous and productive week here at BlogHer and here are the highlights...
BlogHer Food - today we were able to open up the waitlist and add more bloggers for BlogHer Food! We are taking names off the waitlist in order they were received - keep an eye on your inbox!
Some people at the BlogHer09 conference went mad for the swag. BlogHer Conference virgin that I was, I missed prime swag opportunities, I've been told. But seriously, I have pack rat issues already. Me and swag would have been a dangerous thing. Business cards, however--that's a different story. At the other end of a BlogHer business card is rarely a major corporation trying to sell you a tangible product. It's a woman saying "This is who I am" or at least how I want you to see me at this moment in my life.
BlogHer '09 is a few short days away and this year we introduced something brand new - LobbyCon!
In an effort to help you meet up with fellow LobbyCon'ers' we have created a forum to chat about what you'll be doing in between the the morning and evening general sessions.
Click over, meet other LC'ers and start preparing your days!
See you soon.
Welcome to Birds of a Feather '09 (BOF)!
As we did last year, BlogHer '09 will feature BOF tables hosting various topics of interest that are either a continuation of a session topic or something new! BOF will be held on both days during the lunch hour and you will be able to pick and choose which sessions interest you and you can "join your flock".
Here is the process:
Wikipedia defines karaoke as:
a form of entertainment in which amateur singers sing along with recorded music (and/or a music video) using a microphone and public address system.
BlogHer defines karaoke as:
PARTY PARTY PARTY!!!
And we will do just that - party like it's 1999 (and sing it too)! Bring your shower voices, have a sip of liquid courage and belt out that song like you've never done before.
Thanks to all your input and amazing ideas we have really great blog bling in preparation for BlogHer '09...all of you are so clever!.
Now, with LobbyCon Bling!!!:

Here are the newbies:
THE COUNTDOWN BEGINS - DRUM ROLL....BDDDRRRRRRRRR (is THAT a drumroll sound?)
40 days to BlogHer Business! 41 days to BlogHer '09! OMG...I just gave myself heart palpatations ;-)
Let's see, hmmm, what to tell you? Oh, I know...
Happy Friday my friends!
Another exciting week here at BlogHer but I must admit, I'm ready for the weekend. I have a couple of items to call out as we wind up the week...
Keynotes - We have announced the BlogHer '09 keynotes - take a peek!
May 29 - seriously?
I do not know about the rest of you but is this year flying by or what? Since we are at May 29, that means we are less than 2 months out from BlogHer Business and BlogHer '09; that is just plain crazy!
But I digress. It was another very busy week for us here in our planning process.
Last week AdAge dubbed our BlogHer Business '09 keynote speaker the “Queen of Brand,” and deservedly so. Lauren Zalaznick, president of NBC Universal Women and Lifestyle Entertainment Networks, will keynote BlogHer Business ’09, drawing from her brand expertise to offer an exclusive look at what it takes to not only survive, but to flourish, in today’s economy.
As I type this I look outside my window at work and recall this weeks milestones and I think wow, we are a mere 10 weeks away from BlogHer '09 and BlogHer Business. The expo floor is now fully sold and all sponsors are ready for the BlogHer audience.
I am excited to announce the Friday night cocktail party will be ON the expo floor with the sponsors and I am preparing a fun filled night, details are still in the works but I promise you a night of fun and friends!
A Week in Review is on the back burner today so we can launch our Call for Authors!
One of the amazing results of blogging is the opportunity to transform your blog into a book. Whether it be self or agency published we have authors amongst us - and now we want to highlight you.
If you are published and would like to have your book in our bookstore at BlogHer '09 please contact Elizabeth and she will assist you further. We will be accepting requests until May 31 so don't delay!
The countdown to BlogHer Business and BlogHer '09 = 90 days (approximately). Now for all of you calendar watchers I want to say this will be the only time I do a countdown. Countdowns make my heart race and all the other things that go with planning an event - I guess it's really called excitement!
We have had another great week in our preparations for YOUR event.
The Community Keynote was announced and we already have over 90 submissions; submit your favorites today!
It's a glorious day here in Northern California but I hear the weather in Chicago is a bit yucky. That will not be the problem in July!
Speaking of July and BlogHer (I'll admit that was a weak segue)...the BlogHer room block at the Sheraton Chicago is quickly filling up. Here is how it's looking:
Less than 50 rooms for Thursday nightLess than 100 rooms for Friday nightJust over 100 rooms for Saturday night
Happy Friday - the weekend is here and it's been another great week!
In the event you do not get the weekly conference newsletter I am going to post some of the same information I wrote about on Wednesday. To get on our list click here and sign up.
I have been receiving emails from BlogHer bloggers about the conference and have called out just a few questions and answers -
Wow! Holy Crackers! (I stole that from a BlogHer blogger) - BlogHer '09 is officially sold out!
As I said in my newsletter we are humbled here at BlogHer by the overwhelming respsonse to the event and the community support we received. Again, wow.
This has obviously created a need for us to ensure we have dotted our i's and crossed our t's. These are our next steps:
Welcome to this weeks "wrap up"...
Just in case you missed the Wednesday's edition of our Conference News here are some key items you want and need to know about.
BlogHer and KiddieCorp partner again with conference onsite daycare - more information to come related to pricing and sign ups. This will be a wonderful addition to our already fabulous conference.
We continue to announce speakers on a regular basis, so check back often and see which voices, new and old, will be sharing the stage at BlogHer.
Today I am thrilled to announce the first step in planning BlogHer '09's agenda: Sessions!
Sessions are just one part of the BlogHer conference experience, and we look forward to your help in each of these areas. Thanks for clicking on the links below to learn more about each part of the BlogHer agenda:
