Motherly Love- Staying @ Home Is Possible

Hi blogher community.  My name is Brandy and I recently joined the site to get some ideas on working from home and making additional income.  I have a two year old son that keeps me extremely busy during the day while my husband works full-time as a warehouse worker with a well known compay.  I came to the realization that for my household, it is more cost effective to care for my own child saving myself child care cost and fuel for work commute.  For the past 90 days I searched, the web for jobs and products t...more

Lessons from Holly

My heart is broken this week. Those of you who follow my work know that I am an animal lover. I have 10 pets of my own, and am fostering four small kittens right now. I volunteer at the local rescue group every Monday, cleaning cages. The animals are very, very special to me....more

Life Lines: Moms of the world unite!

Because it's time to stand up and be counted! And why do I say this?  Because, whether we like it or not, moms are the most down-trodden, under-rated ("Oh? You are only a stay at home mom?" said with a smirk and a pitying look in the eye!) work horse, load-carrying multi-armed machine put on this earth!Mom is put upon: "Mom! Life Lines: Great Expectations!

Those who are familiar with Charles Dicken’s works will know how that book ended. And there are philosophies and religions that maintain that detachment should be the mantra to live by…...more

After weeks of grey cloud and rain, it was fabulous to finally get my share of the big warm yellow thing that normally hangs around in Australia and California. I immediately hatched up a plan. It involved being outdoors and playing with gadgets, so it was almost as good as a 'Hot and Spicy' pizza from Dominos. Yep, I decided I was going to take my new Canon S95 to nearby Bernwood Forest to play with the settings. ...more

I do not know what that setting is either, but I like it!

Style Your Workspace

If you're a digital diva like me, the first thing you do when you wake up is grab the iPhone to check email and Facebook. There must have been a crazy important email or status update that you missed during the six hours of sleep. Check the weather and calendar apps as you get ready. Respond to emails and texts as you're walking out the door. Then you're online all day: emailing, planning, documenting, interoffice online chatting, posting status updates, tweeting, and texting your husband about dinner....more

Not So Lazy Days

The Snoozing Mama. That’s what my husband and bachelor brother have taken to calling me lately because I haven’t posted in awhile. But I needed a break. I needed to unplug and spend some quality summer time with my kids that would put me at the playground and the beach instead of the office and the computer screen. That was the theory anyway. The reality, of course, is somewhat different....more
