Emerging from my ennui to recap the runway. So, we finally made it to the Project Runway finale, and it's a sad indication that the moment of highest drama, on or off the runway, was Carol Hannah puking in the bathroom.
I've been a fan of the Twilight books since long before there was Twilight mania. But the Twilight movie, ugh. I never wanted to see another Twilight related movie again. It was so bad that it was even hard to heckle. And if I can't heckle something... Did I say ugh?
What was I thinking when I agreed to take RJ, her sister and her only slightly hesitant brother to see New Moon - at 7pm on Friday night? I'd like to blame menopause but I think I'll blame Honeybeast instead. It was HER idea.

Since yesterday, we knew the official public announcement was coming and today we got it. Oprah Winfrey announced on a live broadcast that she will end "The Oprah Winfrey Show" in 2011 after 25 years. After much prayer and months' of careful thought, I've decided next season, season 25, will be the last season of "The Oprah Winfrey Show. With those words, the most powerful woman in television shook up not only the daytime TV world, but the TV world as a whole.
Or, let me put it this way: Will the right three stars make it to the Finals?

One of Fox's fall hits, "Glee" got itself in a bit of trouble last week with an episode called, "Wheels." It was about wheelchair user Artie (Kevin McHale) and head Glee-meister, Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison) trying to teach the other Glee kids a little something about living with a disability. Add to that the sight of a Down syndrome student trying out for Sue Sylvester's (Jane Lynch) Cheerios and the keyboards set to tapping in the blogosphere.

The L Word ended on Showtime in March. For people like me who don't have Showtime, the final season is just now coming out on DVD. We are finally getting to see season 6 and watch how the series ended.
My koan for the day: Is it possible to film a comedy riffing on women in exploitation films without exploiting women?I have no idea.

First they called her "that girl". Then, "madam". Eventually, they referred to her as "sir."

The third season of Mad Men came to a conclusion on Sunday night -- I know I was satisfied! -- and I'm already looking forward to what's coming next season.

This is going to be sticky, so please, bear with me. I just saw the film "Precious" and I can barely breathe. The only way I'm going to be able to write about this movie is in two parts: my hopefully professional and objective review of the movie, and then my gut level, emotional reaction to the movie. So as I said, please bear with me.

Been a long day? Want to veg out on the couch for a couple of hours before bedtime with the TV? You turn on the tube and what happens? You find nothing but moronic programming, repeats of cop/detective/mystery shows, and movies you've seen twice already.
You could shut the damn thing off and read the latest Diana Gabaldon novel. That would keep you busy for a while. Or you could go to your computer and be amazed and enlighted watching a video from TED Talks.

I first became aware of the buzz about Sapphire's debut novel Push in 1995 or 1996. The novel gained attention for its distressing storyline but possibly more because the novelist received a $500,000 advance, a sum unheard of in those days for a first novel. Well, unheard of except that another writer that year had received even more, Jacquelyn Mitchard.
