We’ve all heard the conventional wisdom about marriages, that newlyweds embark upon a “honeymoon phase” during the very first year. When I was married, however, I think that phase lasted one or two months and then the serious challenges kicked in. This was something I was prepared for because before getting married, I talked to my married friends about their relationships. The vast majority of them said that the first year was the most challenging....more
I love looking at pretty wedding things, a fact that often surprises people. You see, I didn't have a wedding. My husband and I decided to get married and 10 days later ran off to City Hall without telling anyone. Surprise! If we'd had a wedding, we would have had to DIY a lot of things. When I looked at all the pretty wedding things I always wonder whether it is possible to DIY them. Here are some of this year's trends that you can do yourself.
Around this time last year, I was looking for Little White Dresses (LWDs). My wedding was just around the corner, and I was looking for any opportunity to wear all white—the bridal shower, the rehearsal dinner, the reception, etc. I put together posts where I curated LWDs that could be worn for any of these events. Recently, I noticed that those posts are receiving an increase in traffic. I felt kind of bad because being a year old, the dresses in those posts are no longer available. ...more
Friday night my mom, sisters, and I set an appointment at David's Bridal to try on wedding gowns, and to look for bridesmaids dresses. Basically, if you were holding a stereo up over your head and playing tremendous 80s love songs, or exchanging witty banter with your best guy friend who didn’t know he loved you until you took off your glasses, you were speaking my love language. ...more
When I was planning my wedding last June, I would spend hours looking for pink and turquoise weddings. My favorite color is pink, and I decided to go bold with fuchsia pink and turquoise. The men wore gray suits with cobalt blue accents. It was a lovely combination and perfect for a summer wedding. I've put together a mood board using photos from our wedding. This is for the bride who is planning her own pink and turquoise wedding. I hope this comes in handy on your search for inspiration....more
