Over Thinking Parenting, editorials by me…
As I reflect each September 11, I think about that morning when I broke the news to my high school students who had not yet heard, and we crowded in front of the small tv with poor reception, trying to make sense of the events. I was younger, newly married without children, and this was perhaps the first time that I was put into a position of having to calm fears and soothe anxieties when I was uncertain myself. I was rattled to the core as my husband and I had just walked through the World Trade Center the week prior on a trip to NYC.
I know that this event has forever left its impact on me as well as all of you.
My husband and I talked endlessly in the days following about the state of affairs, a form of self-therapy, and it is so interesting to me that what we talked about then, now has an impact in our parenting style...
