Teenager's Study Habits

Do any teenagers just study?  I think they all try to do about 3
other things (maybe more) when they are studying.  Here's my take on a
typical study evening (based on other teens - NOT mine of course)

  1. Lie on bed at awkward angle.
  2. Make sure desk and chair are filled with dirty clothes and gym bag so it cannot possibly be used for studying.
  3. Log-on to AIM
  4. Ensure that cell-phone is open and nearby (set on vibrate OF COURSE)
  5. Read over assignment to make sure you understand it.
  6. Turn on music on Pandora.
  7. Check email.
  8. Call friend to check that assignment is correct.
  9. Go downstairs to grab something to eat...stomach is growling.
  10. Ignore Mother's request to set the table.
  11. Change music to Itunes Library - Pandora was getting irritating.
  12. Better check Facebook to see if anyone's written on your wall.
  13. OMG! I can't believe ____remembers me from 4th grade!  I need to write him right back!
  14. Look at hair in the mirror - is it me or my split ends just gross?
  15. Answer IM from friend asking about week-end plans, another one pops up - answer that too.
  16. Do some math problems.
  17. Remember you have tournament this week-end, charge Ipod.
  18. Study for test
  19. Ignore Mother's request to unload dishwasher.
  20. Answer text from friend about who he can ask out this week-end
  21. Work on homework.
  22. Confirm driving lesson - send email.
  23. Go back to homework.
  24. IM from friend says to check Facebook, some hot news just posted.
  25. Ignore Mother's request to take out trash.
  26. Go downstairs and say, "What's for dinner.  Can we eat out?"
  27. Set table, unload dishwasher, take trash out...shouldn't have gone downstairs.
  28. Collect 2 weeks worth of dirty clothes from floor and surfaces in room. Dump them all in the laundry room and leave.
  29. Tell Mother you absolutely have to have your sports jersey washed for the tournament tomorrow.
  30. Go back upstairs before you can hear  Mother's request to find the jersey in the dirty, smelly clothes.
  31. Go to bed as late as possible, all the while ignoring Mother's determined attempts at enforcing 10:30 electronics ban.
  32. Wake up as late as possible..tell everyone you're so tired because you stayed up late studying.

Disclaimer: This is a satirical look at teen's study habits.   It is a composite picture based on the complaints of other Mothers.  My teen-agers never do any of these things.
