Next week on Backtalk, we're tackling a subject that nearly every mom blogger has at some point addressed:  education.

Whether you love your kids' school or hate it, PTA power struggles, nitpicky teachers, queen bees, bullies, bad words, good grades, and even long car pick up lines all make for prime posting material in the lives of moms who blog.

For example, take a look at what Sarah E from Silicone Valley Moms Blog wrote about her reaction to an e-mail sent to her from a teacher complaining about her preschooler's "inappropriate language."

Sure, I planned to sit him down and have a serious conversation with
him after school, and to appropriately make him cry with shame for
breaking the rules at school, but really the seriousness of this email
note sent to me in "real time" during the day to alert me to my son's
fairly normal 4-yr-old behavior was quite funny. Just imagining his
teacher saying "Now, I've just told you we don't say POO HOLE at
school!" made me giggle.

Seriously, ever since I read this post, I think of the words, "poo hole" and crack up!

One of my all-time favorite school posts was written by Stephanie "NieNie" Nielson, who prepared the most amazing back-to-school feast for her girls, took pictures, and blogged about it all. It really gave me great ideas about what I want to do for my own children some day.

Then there are the moments that as moms, we all want to avoid. Take Moogie from Moogie's World, who got in hot water with her 13-year-old for yelling "MAKE GOOD CHOICES!" at her as she got on the bus.

OH, MOM!!!!

Speaking of ahem, good choices, we'll also hear from a teacher on what you can do to... well, basically, to keep your kid's teacher from hating you.

I still remember the mom from my stepdaughter's junior high school who had to stick her nose into everything. There's involved and then there's, get a life of your own, m'kay? Our special Backtalk interviewee will let you know exactly what a teacher wants and what a teacher needs. Yes, you can sing that if you'd like.

And that's what's coming up on Backtalk.

But in the meantime, we want to hear what you would like to see on upcoming Backtalks. Is there a post you'd like to see discussed in more detail? Is there a topic you've been reading about over and over again in the blogosphere? Send us your links- and your video. We'd love to feature you and your blogs on our next episodes.

Some of you have expressed some hesitation at this newfangled thing called "vlogging." The truth is, it's never been easier. First, read Erin's post on how to make great Internet video, then upload your video directly to BlogHer's site here!

As a Homeschooling Mom -  I'd love to see that perspective.  Especially a secular homeschooling voice.

...that it's the kind of thing where one person does it and then everyone thinks it's okay to do it.

I say don't sweat it. Other kids' birthday parties at that age aren't even remembered by your kids, and you'll still be invited to plenty more. We are constantly being invited to parties for kids/parents we really don't even know- I suspect it's all to "up" the kid count and make the party seem "successful," even though most preschoolers rightfully don't have all that many real friends.

My oldest is only in her first year of pre-school, so I may not actually rate a vote in this arena. That said, maybe you all can shed some light. I have just received the third invitation in as many weeks to a 12pm Wednesday birthday party. Each invite has come with a week's notice. Is this the norm and if so, how do i keep my kid from ending up a pariah for being born to people who can't make noontime parties?

Ack!

"I LOVE the idea of a show on blogging about teens and tweens and finding people who do it successfully,"

I think if you all come out alive at the end it was a success!

LOL

Erin, the great thing about your ideas is that we already have video in the can!

I LOVE the idea of a show on blogging about teens and tweens and finding people who do it successfully, because it's incredibly difficult to write about the topic sensitively.

And you will hear from a home educator's perspective on our upcoming Backtalk, gabrielleK! Chris Jordan homeschools all seven of her kids and she's going to be talking about some of her favorite home schooling blogs.  :)

I would like to read a home educators perspective as well. As for other topics:

Media influences and how it's changed the family

How to positively deal with a child who is a world renowned negotiator

Multiple Learning styles  under one roof

Thanks for this new feature, I think it's going to be great!

How about moving on past the toddler kids and talk about parenting teens and adult children, how to loosen the apron strings and when to just take the apron off and not strangle them with it.

*sigh*

I guess we'll have to use my ideas...  "Puke Catching 101", "Why Pets and Kids Don't Mix", and "Dolls! Dolls! Dolls! A Visual History."
