So you're standing in line at the coffee shop, and the barista asks your name. Ever give out a fake?

Rita is just so boring. Maybe I should be Cassandra. Or Juliana. Or Contessa Zahara von Edamame.

If you were to give out a name for a latte that weren't your own, what would it be?

Tell us your "latte name" in the comments of this post, and you'll be registered to win a springtime Flip Video from BlogHer.

On Wednesday, April 7, we'll enter all the comments into a randomizer and choose one lucky commenter to win. Comment as many times as you want. Seriously. It's that easy! Click here to read the official rules. Good luck!

UPDATED! Time's up! We are going with 242 comments. Stay tuned to hear who won the Flip video.

Don't miss the Do Tell Archive. Last week we asked a doozy: Do Tell: Share Your Guilty Pleasures. Latte Name Contest Official Rules.

A friend of mine, that I worked with at a summer camp was named Dory, and I loved her name... I could use that!

giving a different name. I would say 50% of the time they spell it wrong or ask how I spell it.

I guess I sould give the name "It's Time!" because really, it's always time for a latte. lol

Anna Maria Stanzetti.

You know, because 'Loralee' just isn't odd enough. :)

I think MyLady sounds so royal, doesn't it? A queen for the day!

I usually just give my real name, Ana, but no one ever seems to pronounce it properly. It's not AH-nuh, it's Eh-na -- rhymes with banana, people! But it's not worth getting ticked off for, since I get my coffee just the same.

flaurente78 5 pts

Damn! I never thought to use a clever moniker. And now my baristas know my name so they don't even ask anymore. But they do tend to spell it wrong. I never knew there for so many misspellings for Felicia

But if I did, I think my latte name would be Rionagh - it's a bastardized Gaelic(ish) name that I made up a while back (pronounced 'Riona').

Well, my answer usually depends on whether the barista is cute or not. :)

However, I love to come up with a combination of names from greek mythology.. Clio Cadmus is a personal favorite.

I live in Venice, so usually I use Mary Jane. It's usually good for the occassional chuckle.

There are always at least three of us in a room...so early on I adopted Lola as an alter ego. In 40 years, I have only run into one other Lola.

One of my friends from my previous life used "Rocky" for all his restaurant reservations, so it's become my latte name. So far, no one has mispronounced it!

reLYME 5 pts

So I just tell them my name is Lady.

Why?

Well, for starters, because I'm a lady, that's why.

And two, can you imagine how funny it is when they say, "Lady!" Every woman in the coffee shop turns to see if their drink is ready. It's fantastic to watch!

So that I don't have to deal with the whole ROBERT with an A for my real name...I just give my nick name alatte...Bobbi

Roberta Philbrick 5 pts

I always thought I had a simple name...Roberta...but when ever I have to give it out...I'm always asked..."How do you spell that?" SO I gave up on getting made and just start telling them...
"That's ROBERT with an "A" ...not that diffcult!

I always always always go with Mrs. Timberlake.

I always give my real name, Judy which normally translates to Jody, Julie, Judie, Judi, and the occasional Judee.

I just noticed that the cropping on the banner ad for this post crops to:

"Ivanna Spanky"

(my immature inner teenager finds this very funny.)

I always use the name Lily Lovelace. I think it sounds very old fashion and respectable (or maybe like a porn star)! It always gets me some strange looks and it starts my morning off great!

mrs w 5 pts

Joe or Joey seems like the kind of thing that would just give me an inner chuckle every time

mrs w 5 pts

i use one all the time.
Sam, but it may be time to change to something new...

cuponeando 5 pts

I try to use a new name every time. We don't go that often so it's not that confussing to the baristas LOL.

I've used Maria, Patty, and Amanda.

Or once at Fuddruckers - Wolverines. But there were six of us, and it was in honor of Jenny.

poeteees 5 pts

I don't think I've ever done that, but I've been called a lot of odd names when they get it wrong because it was garbled underneath all the noise :) But if I have to pick my own, I'll go with "Lulu."

michelleburnett 5 pts

I've never really like the sound of my own name, so I pick something different each time.

Erin from Long Island 5 pts

It may sound weird but I usually use the name of the main female character in whatever story i am reading. It helps me to feel more connected to the story and it is fun!

an ordinary mom 5 pts

I frequented a coffee shop where we wrote our names on a slip of paper when we ordered, when it was ready, they'd call out the name. My name is Alison, I go by Ali, and this coffee shop and eatery is located in an area with a large Somali immigrant population. I was called Ali, all the time, but more like Muhammed Ali, than the Ali that is short for Alison... I just smiled and picked up my order...

landismom 5 pts

start using "Kara Thrace" as my barista name. You know, 'cause that's how I roll.

Landismom blogs at Bumblebee Sweet Potato.

Mine would be:

Jenna Talia

because I am hot and steamy.

Enough said...

kerri ladish 5 pts

Because it always makes the barista smile and/or laugh. That, or Fred.

... but now it's Baba Ganooj. Causes less panic.

amommystory 5 pts

I usually just give my real first name. Nothing fancy, I just want my coffee as fast as possible.

Now, when I was a teen and I went out for dinner with friends, we had a blast giving out different names for the wait list at restaurants. We'd give names like Pity ("Pity party of 3? Your table is ready!") or Pajama or Toga.

Johanna Thomas 5 pts

My latte name is always HANNA BANANA

laurie_pooh 5 pts

I usually tell the barista Jane when I go into the store because they can never spell L-A-U-R-I-E right anyway. In the drive-thru I can remain anonymous though, and that's how I like it! Love this questions since my normal avatar is me with my Starbucks!

And that Spring Flip is ADORABLE!
