Template Terror - Need Suggestions Please

We are searching for a more effective WordPress template for our nonprofit organization and I'm at a loss. Or on overwhelm. Or both.

We are a Pittsburgh based organization that collects new and gently used tote bags for distribution to the region's food pantries - our mission is both to fight hunger and fight for the environment. We are all volunteer, minimal budget and very collaboration oriented. We've collected 26,000 bags in 20 months.

We've been using a primarily blog template with widgets and pages for other information. Social media is our primary means of communication. We try to blog 5x week and we tweet 24/7 using scheduling software. This all works.

So I'd like a clean template that highlights the blog but not necessarily allows it to dominate the site. I'd like to emphasize the social media content to engage people. I'd also like to make certain pieces of information more prominent - such as how/where to donate bags.

I'm fine with using widgets and I have a great guy to help me with transferring information. I just need to find the right template.

I want a simple black and white template with maybe a splash of color. Professional, but community feel. Nothing cutsie or too modern/retro.

OMG, do you feel my exasperation? Help!
