On Thanksgiving, I find it hard to think of things I am thankful for without thinking of BlogHer. My partner works here, so the roof over our head, the lights, the Internet and the heat is all here because of BlogHer. But, as much as those things make life possible in so many ways and as much as I love having the woman I love work for a company for which she loves-that isn't the reason behind this post.
As I prepared for Thanksgiving and wrote this post, my trackball sat on a Sesame Street mouse pad and my drink (Coca-Cola-sadly not a BlogHer sponsor-though Pepsi and Trop50 continue to rock the majority of my family's world) rests on a pork bloggers mouse pad.
Speaking of pads-the Butterball potholders got their daily workout in the kitchen. (not when I dropped the pie though-that potholder came from Walgreens) The Cuisinart chopper/grinder from BlogHer food made cranberry relish prep a snap. The Tassimo coffee pot I am going to review because of being a part of the BlogHer review program gave me energy in the morning, made the kids smile as they tried it.
The #momspotter review program helped make thinking of Christmas gifts a little less stressful. The BlogHer ads on my blog make me smile not only when I get my not superstar blogger check every so often (but more often than my few dimes from previous ad programs ever paid) , but also make me smile when I see a great link to a blog I might not otherwise have found.
My wardrobe in a good part of the year belongs to BlogHer swag shirts. The floor mopped courtesy of the Swiffer WetJet. My daughter's 14th birthday present, a Disney Netpal (and really-I gave it to her for a mushy mommy reason-two trips that have really done a lot for our relationship in the past few years were a trip to Disney and the trip to BlogHer this year (neither sponsored by anyone) but if I were considering buying a computer for a child this year for the holidays-that would be it. It totally rocks-even for an older child on the net-but for that younger set-amazing-though the 11, 14, and 16 yo have found a lot to love in the games installed on it aas well as the coolness factor of a netbook.) a door prize from BlogHer 09.
The lotion that keeps the old lady smell from my mother-BlogHer. The shampoo my 14 yo uses? Found because of BlogHer. The knife I fell in love with after BlogHer food...a BlogHer Food after party. The flexible cutting boards that kept me from having to wash the one I had over and over? BlogHer.
The Trop50 I mixed with Iodine for a CT yesterday wouldn't have ever been in my fridge-except that my daughter fell in love with it at BlogHer09.
I saw a thing at Michael's today and said "Shutter Sisters!", maybe we should get it. Tide Stain Release gets the nastiest stains from being a mom and a caregiver from sheets and clothing-BlogHer sponsor. Never would have bought a Tide product without the coupon from BlogHer09. (I have always gotten a nasty itchy rash from regular Tide)
The flour used in the breads and cake made today-a coupon from BlogHer food. Measuring spoons? BlogHer food. Our taste for Scharffen Berger chocolate (and why can't I get those sea salt and almond bars anywhere around here?) BlogHer Food. The tote bags that carry things to the nursing home for my sister-a variety of BlogHer conferences. My son's flute music is carried in his much loved BlogHer 07 laptop bag-except when he takes his laptop somewhere.
The thank you notes that my children write to their grandmother-BlogHer swag. Folders, paper clips, notepads-BlogHer swag. The mini power strip that keeps our phones powered? Topix BlogHer08 swag. One also powers my lamp and heating pad by my bed.
Gifts for young nephews? Swag. (Thanks PlaySkool and PBS) Donations to Toys for Tots-BlogHer09 swag. Little bundles of chocolate from T-Mobile cause a smile on the face of my sister in the nursing home.
I pour over the office supply Black Friday ads looking for that HP printer I fell in love with at a conference and smile at the beauty of the HP TouchSmart computers. The hook that my keys with the fob to open my email hangs on a Kaboodle purse hook-designed for women who carry purses to hang purses from tables rather than leave them on the dirty floor.
So, yes I am probably
