Thanksgiving Now & Then

With Thanksgiving coming, I wonder if it is the same now as it was then. Families getting together as one big family sharing their lives, interests, feelings, forgiving if need be and of course, dinner. That one special dinner that everyone can hardly wait for. A BIG turkey, stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, corn, beans, cranberry sauce, homemade bread or rolls, and PUMPKIN PIE with whipped cream! Do all people still share this sentimental scene of days gone by? Or as the years have gone by, changed by economic and social upheaval, changed the way we celebrate the traditional Thanksgiving feast and all?  Will some of us be having pork chops, spaghetti, burgers or whatever we can afford? There is nothing wrong with this. Sustenance of any kind is worth being thankful for. As long as we have food of some kind to keep us going there is nothing wrong by any means. I know children that go to school with my children are very harsh should anyone not have the same as they. My children were brought up differently, though. Everyone is the same, no one is better than the other. My children would ask the less fortunate to join us rather than degrade them as some of their classmates.  I hope that this year will be as they have been in the past.... should you encounter someone less fortunate than you, invite them to dinner or at least send some "goodies" to them. In these times, we still have alot to be thankful for. Take time to sit awhile and think about what you have that many do not. Make this a truely thankful Thanksgiving as it was many years ago.
