Is there anybody out there?

No I mean it: is there? What are we doing when we reach out beyond the laptop? For whom are we searching? We reach beyond the boundaries of our community, family, home, life...everything familiar, but what is it we seek? Recognition? Acceptance? Friendship, love, a feeling of "I get you" that might be absent in those we spend our lives with?

Perhaps all of the above. And yet, how much are we giving? How much can we give to strangers and not feel dishonest? If I tell you right now I'm a Hare Krishna devotee, will you keep reading? Will you find it interesting but conclude I'm "not your type," "not possible that we have a friendship," "not my religion," or worse...a wierdo cult member?

It's a risk to reach out blindly and hope that someone responds with kindness, acceptance even. It is a rare thing that someone does. But I'm hoping for it. I can't give much in return except what I see coming at me. I'm the one taking the risk, and now I get to see what that risk returns to me. I hope it's something...

I'll wait...

It totally depends on what you're writing about. Broccoli is hardly revealing :) No risk factor involved there. And if we are writing about the personal stuff, I guess there's also no risk factor if we keep it superficial. It's only when the depth is tapped that there is some risk.  You mention your current feeder: where is that to? Could you send me a link? Thanks for your response :)

I see it as a relief.  Hey look, this is me!  I can write!

I suppose I'm looking for community.  Certainly, through foodblogging, I found an amazing community of people who thought it ok to be excited about broccoli.

Now I'm blogging about the rest of my life, i struggle to believe that anyone will want to read it - but then, i discover that i really don't care.  I'm putting it there.  It's my testimony.  Testimony to what? I'm really  not sure.  But it's mine.

I promise I won't think you a weirdo cult member.  I MAY stop reading, if you aren't all that interesting - but it won't be because of your religion or your spiritual beliefs.  My current feed reader includes a Christian pastor, several pagan practicioners, a buddhist monk and a Catholic nun.  Most of the blogs I read, I don't know their religion and it doesn't seem relevant.
