This is Women's History Month and the history of women has always included violence against women and the destruction it brings. Women have had to learn to suvive, and learn, we have. There is an organization that has my deepest respect for the work they do in creating a climate of survival, independence, hope and respect for women.

In Nashville, a program, a sheltering program, called Magdalene has worked for ten years to walk side-by-side with women who have been battered, abused, neglected and stepped on. Now, they have, in their success, created a business called Thistle Farms that provides a two year, FREE program for women who want to work, learn and recover.

Thistle Farms published a lovely little book of thoughts and images written by women who participate in their program. Called Find Your Way Home, from Abingdon Press, it will break your heart and lift you up at the same time. Short, easy to read and so peaceful, Find Your Way is the most spiritual epistle I've read in a long time.

Please join me in applauding and reaching out to the women traveling through Thistle Farms and Magdalene and to the women who founded the two non-profit organizations and those who continue to work for empowerment and success.
