Three 501(c)(3) Nonprofits That Make Holiday Giving Easy

Tis better to give than it is to receive. And furthermore, tis the season for giving! During the holiday season, we all love to give but a lot of us this year will have tighter pursestrings to work with when it comes to gifts for one and all. Donations to charities always make for popular giving particularly in the case of 501(c)(3) organizations of which are exempt from federal income tax.

So why doesn't everyone donate a little bit more to these nonprofits? With so many organizations to choose from, not every one clearly defines where exactly your money is going and how it's being used. I've done the legwork and found three 501(c)(3) organizations that make giving easy for all budgets!

The Salvation Army

We've all donated a little something to help those in need to a volunteer ringing the bells beside the red tin can outside of our grocery store. This year the nonprofit is making it easier than ever to donate via smartphone and iPad apps that allow you to donate your amount of choice with a credit card transaction.

Make-A-Wish Foundation

This one's for the kids! Bring your kiddo to the nearest Macy's location to have them write a letter to Santa and drop it off in the store. Macy's and Make-A-Wish Foundation have teamed up to ensure that for every letter written, one dollar will be donated to the nonprofit to benefit children with terminal illnesses.

The American Red Cross

All it takes to donate is a simple text message. With donations that benefit victims of natural disasters, it's as simple as typing in REDCROSS to number 90999 to donate $10. The charges will appear on your next phone statement and you'll be able to sleep soundly, knowing that you helped give others a hot meal for the holidays.
