Three Healthy and Quick Snacks for a Flat Stomach
By MissWall on February 07, 2010
The key to losing weight - I mean really losing weight and keeping it off - is making sure that your metabolism is consistently working to burn fat.
How do you keep your metabolism burning?
Just like you do with a fire - you keep refueling it every few hours. However, unlike a fire I'm not telling you to eat wood - haha - but making sure that you are eating healthy meals every few hours keeps your metabolism burning - therefore burning off those unwanted pounds.
Great idea - but what do I eat?
This is usually the problem most women have - I know there are days when I do. The key is to plan in advance and make sure you have the tools (food) you need to eat healthy.
Plus you need ideas and that's why I'm here - to make your life easier so you don't have to rack your brain for healthy snack ideas.
Here are three of my favorites
Sliced Apples and Natural Peanut Butter
It sounds pretty simple so it must not be good for you - wrong! Natural peanut butter has some great benefits. Not only is it a healthy fat (which means it can help you burn fat) but its a great source of fiber, as are apples. The fiber in the apples and peanut butter help to keep you fuller longer - therefore giving you the energy you need to finish the work day and head to the gym.
Almonds and Goji Berries
Goji berries are currently the newest health food trend and the benefits are endless. Goji berries have been proven to help fight cancer, lose weight, and give you energy you need to get through the day. Combine the goji berries with almonds and you have one nutrient packed snack. Almonds are a great source of Vitamin E, while helping to lower your blood pressure and prevent heart disease.
Hummus and Veggies
The best part about eating veggies - is you can eat ENDLESS amounts of them and not worry about adding extra calories to your diet. Vegetables (especially green ones) are a great source of fiber and help to keep you fuller for longer. Eating hummus with veggies is better than having bread, as it cuts down on the amount of carbohydrates you have in your diet - helping you lose weight. Plus, hummus is also a great source of fiber, plus healthy fats.
So, as the new week starts make sure that you have your snacks prepared to keep the fat burning even while you aren't at the gym. Any one of these three snacks are not only good for you but quick to pack and tasty too - so you won't feel like you are missing out on flavor while trying to lose weight.
