Tiara

Tiara Shafiq describes herself as a 22-year-old young Malaysian/Bangladeshi studying Creative Industries in Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Australia. She is also an advocate for youth and alternative education, particularly in Malaysia through her blog, EducateDeviate.  Her goal is to join and find funding to become a KaosPilot.

A what?

KaosPilot International, according to its web site, is an entrepreneurial education for young
entrepreneurs and project leaders with a creative edge and a global
mind. The school is located in Aarhus, Denmark and part of an international
network of schools and educational programs.  You can read more about the program here.

She hopes to be the first Asian
student at the school and help
bridge Asian and European business and social cultures.

Tiara is on a mission and has set up a blog, Facebook Group, and social media campaign to help reach her goals:

  • To get accepted into Team 15 (2008/09) of the KaosPilots International, Aarhus
  • To have my fees and costs be at least 3/4 funded by outside sources such as grants and sponsorships
  • To get the word out about myself and the KaosPilots
  • To not suffer too much stress from this project!!
  • To learn more about life in foreign countries
  • To have fun and be the be

She looking for pointers and tips on how to use social media to reach her educational goals.  What would you recommend?

I have heard the name Kaos Pilot, and actually thought it was just some pilot group! They sound like a very interesting group. Thank you for sharing this post. I will have to check out Tiara's blog too.

I am SO HONOURED to be here. The Social Change channel is my favourite on BlogHer and it's always inspiring to read all the posts and ideas and initiatives that come through. Thank you so much.
