For the would-be gardener: Egg Plant. Anyone with a window can hatch a cute little herb garden! This gift'll look pretty, clean the air a teensy bit, and then grow to flavor a good holiday dish. $12 at Branch.
For the chocolate-addict: Chocolate Lover's Gift Basket. Fair trade, organic, delicious yumminess, from bars to java drops to hot cocoa. $55 at Global Exchange.

I loved it, and think everyone should read it! $25 in bookstores everywhere.

For the do-gooder: Plant 50 trees through Oxfam America, and feel good knowing they'll "produce not only life-sustaining crops like avocados and bananas, but they also provide much-needed shade for coffee and other staple plants, and prevent erosion." $30 at Oxfam America Unwrapped.
For the minimalist: The Jimi, a thinner wallet alternative made of recycled plastic, in the color of your choice. $15 at BTC Elements.
For Fido: RecycleBone, a gnaw toy made from rubbery scraps left over from the manufacture of other chew toys. $12 at Branch

Green gifts - save our planet
No matter what others do for our planet and global warming, we can start by protecting it ourselfs.
Trees instead, LLC is a company devoted to preserve the environment by planting memory trees and offset carbon footprint.
Why send flowers or give gifts that contaminate our planet when you can plan a tree in behaf of your loved one?
Preserve life planting a tree instead of giving flowers that create waste soon after it is cut.
www.TreesInstead.com is to plant trees instead of giving traditional gifts.

Green Gifts/El Salvador
Hi, so I just found this nonprofit called People of Hope Crafts. They sell items that artisans in El Salvador make. It is soo neat because the groups include Salvadorans with disabilities, former gang-members and all-women co-ops. They also have a lot to choose from for gifts and all. Check m out- www.peopleofhopecrafts.org
Green Gift- Ever grow a plant that moves when
you tickle it?
I thought your readers would enjoy this indoor container gardening growing activity I do with my students and family in the Fall/Winter. To get your children excited about gardening and more sensitive to plants and nature, consider having them grow a plant that they will never forget -The TickleMe Plant! This is the plant that will close its leaves and lower its branches when tickled. How cool is that!!. This growing experience allows kids to learn the basic skills needed for gardening. Parents that are interested in sharing their love of plants and nature with their children, can get more information and supplies by visiting http://www.TickleMePlant.com TickleMe Plants can be grown indoors year round. If you know any students or teachers that would enjoy this exciting gardening and nature experience, share this information with them and they will thank you. This kits are a great green holiday gift as well!
Give the gift of a shorter shower
Consider giving the gift of a shorter shower this year. Ripple Products shower timers inspire water conservation by encouraging shorter showers. Consider this, if you shorten your shower by four minutes you would save 2400 gallons of water, 274 pounds of CO2 and $78.00 per year. I personally am down to a three minute shower (most days) and that gives me enough time to condition my hair.
You can find pictures of the timers and store location at www.azulconservationproducts.com.
Happy holidays.

Best of both worlds
I'm all about being green, but I really need a new TV for xmas too to replace the behemoth I have. Looked around and found the Vizio Eco and then I saw it at Sam's Club yesterday and it's as pretty as it is green. Looks almost like an imac. Super modern and 32" so not too huge either.
