Women Bloggers Are Good for Business - A Review of BlogHer '11

This was my second year attending the BlogHer annual conference in lovely San Diego (is the weather there ever bad?) Last year I went representing Owning Pink and this year I was there again for Owning Pink and my own blog, Reclaiming Leadership. Once more I came away with hope for the planet because of all the smart women I met who are blogging out of love and to make a difference for themselves, their families and the world. Good Business ...more

Blogher 11 - Managing Expectations and the Ford Family Party

Blogher 11 did an amazing job of making me feel special. From sponsors and vendors going out of their way to get to know me to develop a relationship and uniformed servers handing out cute little hor d'oeuvres on trays at every corner as we walked through the convention center, to over the top parties every night, to extremely thoughtful giveaway packages, everything about this conference combined to make us blogging women feel at home, and cared for and respected....more

Vikings quarterback Rhett Bomar was arrested early Sunday morning in Mankato, Minn., for alleged drunk driving, according to the Star Tribune. He is unlikely to make the Vikings roster, with Donovan McNabb, first-round pick Christian Ponder and Joe Webb all getting practice reps in front of Bomar. "Can you wipe my ass?" United employee asks passenger on flight back from BlogHer11

Every time I fly United/Continental Airlines – it’s nothing but problems.  My favorite was a United flight out of White Plains, New York, a few years back when I witnessed a gate agent go on an F bomb tirade at a customer while he threw – yes THREW – her bag at her. Envision a bag – airborne – 10 feet across the most crowded terminal overflowing with elderly folks in wheels chairs and little children scrambling about while United employee John Reid (who was kind enough to slowly ...more

Trend of the Week – QR Code Tattoo!

At the Blogher ’11 Conference in San Diego this weekend, I came across a woman who had a QR code tattoo.  I noticed that people were using their scanners to see where the QR code went to on the Internet.I never saw anything like this before.  I’ve seen people wear company shirts and even company hats but never a QR code Tattoo!  That is why I thought this was a great trend of the week…...more
