Tornadoes Rip Through Arkansas
by Erin Kotecki Vest

The Associated Press reports at least one tornado hit parts of Little Rock and its suburbs, damaging businesses and downing trees and power lines.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or fatalities, said Renee Preslar, a spokeswoman with the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management.

The National Weather Service said a tornado passed directly over its offices at the North Little Rock Airport. Preslar said the state had received reports of damage at the airport.

Many BlogHers were using Twitter during the storm.

Belinda of Ninjapoodles writes on Twitter, "Um, Hwy 5 & Springhill, where things are on FIRE? Yeah, that's where I live.. they're calling the last tornado 'weak' because it 'didn't turn any cars over.' Egads...Losing it. Trying to call. If there's no power, there's no phone. Trying cell."

Redjade Twitters, "Ok, now they say 5+ inches of rain. As if we didn't have enough flooding. That may be more destructive than the tornadoes...My high school & jr. high school are closed tomorrow due to damage."

CozCoz uses Flickr to show herself taking shelter in the bathroom, "The tornado siren just started wailing and we sheltered in the bathroom for 30 minutes. I imagine it was a little bit like the London Blitz. But, you know, with Pringles and a laptop. It's still storming, but the worst of it is past Conway now."
