Travel Log // My Bedside Essentials
By briony skerjance on October 22, 2013
Last week I was in Jacksonville with my friend Tabitha and her little man, Baby Bunny Skye. She was working a women's convention and I was watching the lil guy while she was away. While the munchkin was napping one day, I thought it would be fun to snap a few pics of what I like to have by my bedside when I'm traveling and share them with you.
I don't know if this happens to you but when I'm staying in a hotel for a few days my lips always tend to get drier than normal. Because of this, two of my essentials have to do with lip care. My first item is a good lip scrub. The one I am currently using is by Bliss, but there are plenty of other great ones out there on the market. I really like all the sugar scrubs at Lush. The second lip item is a moisturizing balm. Currently I am rocking the 8hr lip balm by Chapstick, thanks to my October BirchBox. Along with dry lips, comes dry skin. This is where a good lotion or body butter comes in. Above I have the hotels sample lotion, it was actually really thick but blended in well, so I used it for the few days I was there. I also used my Soap and Glory body butter that I am absolutely in love with.
These other items are more comfort items for me than they are essential but when I'm traveling they tend to be top on my list so I am going to include them. First off, I am a massive fan of packing a good book or magazine. Hotels are perfect for snuggling up and reading. They tend to be much quieter and secluded than most living situations and the perfect place to get lost in a good story. Second, a new nail polish (or other pampering items.) I don't know what it is about hotels but when I go to them my mind automatically thinks "spa day." More often than not I will paint my nails, do a face mask, hair mask... the whole nine yards. The last two items just make me happy, the first is a yummy smelling candle. We all know, hotels often have a musty smell to them... lighting a candle really helps the space be more homey and livable. The last item is something yummy to drink, whether it's water, a hot chocolate from room service or a Starbucks coffee... I always like to have something to sip on.
What are some essentials you like to have by your bedside when you travel?
Keep an eye out for a "What's in Our Toiletry Bag" post later this week. I snapped a few pics of what Tabitha and I packed for our week in Jacksonville. (You will see the difference between a pro-travelers bag, Tabitha, and my bag... the over packer. Haha)
