Yo, travelbloggers headed to SF! Will you be attending the BlogHer meet and greet on Friday? It's hosted by Suzanne Reisman, the former contributing editor for travel here at BlogHer, (she now covers feminism and gender) the blog mistress of Cuss and Other Rants, and the author of a new travel guide called Off the Beaten (Subway) Track.
Suzanne would love to know what's on your mind when you stand at the intersection of travel and blogging. Do you want to talk about how to keep your travelblog alive when you're not traveling? What makes a good travelblog in the first place? What's the best gear for a travelblogger's kit? What's on your mind?
This is a great time for pre-introductions, so if you're planning to attend the meet-up, drop a link to your travelblog in the comments. They do get lost in the blogroll sometime - that list includes thousands of blogs and sometimes, it's hard to tell what's travel and what's not. And all your questions about travelblogging - let's stay focused on travel here, not veering into broader blogging issues - drop those in the comments too.
Meeting my fellow travelbloggers has been one of my favorite thing about having a travelblog. We recently had a lovely visit with Geotraveler Lola - originally from Nigeria but arriving to us via Sweden. Next month we hope to be hosting expat blogger Mausi and her crew - Mausi is originally from Vancouver, Canada, but lives in Germany. We also have a passel of Austrians coming through late this month and just shipped off the Bostonians we picked up to help out witha friend's wedding.
When you can't travel, having travelers come to you can be a great consolation prize. And the travelbloggers I've met have opened their doors - and their guest rooms and their fold out couches - for future visits. If they don't have space, they make time to be guides - it's sort of an unofficial couch-surfing network - trust me, you want to meet these people.
The meet up is at 130, just after the Style/Fashion meetup (and that Susan Wagner knows a thing or two about how to pack, so you may want to join her meet-up too.)
Again, comments about what you'd like to discuss and links to your travelblog in the coments, please!
