If you've spent any time on Facebook over the past few days, you may have noticed that people are using their status updates to articulate what it is they are thankful for. I love this; it's a fun reminder of all the good things in our lives and in the lives of people we like and care about. My friends are giving thanks for family and health and for the very friends that brought us all to Facebook in the first place.
Makes me feel kind of warm and fuzzy inside.
In my personal life, I have all sorts of blessings to count, but this week, I'm thinking about things that make my professional life easier -- specifically, style trends I'm loving right now. Here are five trends that I'm giving thanks for this fall.
Cardigans. Versatile, practical, and pretty, all at once. What's not to love? Choose a longer chunky version for casual days, or a slim, thin one for dressing up.
Dresses. I love that "Mad Men" has single-handedly gotten us all to revisit the dress. Pair with flat boots for an easy, comfortable, grown up look.
Patterned tights. Target is carrying a great range of patterns, in store (where you can touch before you buy) for under $10 a pair. Grab two, and wear with abandon.
Bright winter coats. Last year, when I was trying to decide if a bright pink dress coat would be a horrible mistake, Miguelina reminded me that in cold places, a shot of color can make the winter seem less long. I bought the coat and have loved it, and this year I'm thrilled to see so many other women opting out of the neutral coat rut for bright jewel tones.
Dramatic jewelry. Dressing up always seems like such a chore, but this year it's easy -- just toss a big bling-y necklace on with your jeans and tee, and you're ready to party. Ann Taylor has some beautiful pieces right now, including the necklace pictured here. Or choose a pair of over-the-top earrings, or a big bracelet -- it doesn't matter, as long as you're making a statement with your jewelry. Ann Taylor Sparkling Flower Ribbon Necklace, $85.
What's everyone else loving? SheFinds has curated a gift guide of 25 pieces that will sell out this year -- get yours fast! And Kristopher Dukes reminds us that not every trend is worth loving -- what say you to this cashmere jumpsuit? Kristopher hates it. And so do I.

Ugh
I don't own a pair of Ugh (sp?) boots, but I LOVE the way they look! Very comfortable, practical, fun. I don't even know if they're still trendy, but I'd welcome a pair for Christmas. Hey, why isn't DH looking over my shoulder now, when I need him? :-)

I have also been eyeing the Ugg boots, after years of mocking them. I love my flat riding boots, but I'm really in the mood for something cozy and practical this year.

Uggs
This is the year I'm giving in to the Ugg boots as well, despite the fact that I've actually needed them up here. I think I can finally accept them since I haven't seen a picture of Paris Hilton wearing them in sunny LA for a while.
I think this is the winter of cozy!
"Fur"-lined Gloves
Totally warm, completely versatile. I wear mine to an evening out or with my Lululemon yoga pants to they gym.

I love the bright colored
I love the bright colored coats, dresses, jewelry and what not but I have to cry "nay" on the patterned tights, unless they are on kids (or being worn around the house). They are right up there with going out in public in flannel pj bottoms. LOL

I'll give you that, but a cool pair of herringbone tights, or a subtle weave, can be a nice way to add texture to an outfit.
But yes, caution is advisable when wearing patterned tights. ;)

Obviously, you could see the visions I had! :D
Actually, I could see the herringbone tights going with a black dress quite nicely.
