Trying to Fly with Elphaba

Last October, I ran across some wonderful Steve Madden canvas espadrilles on clearance.  I grabbed several pair for female family members and friends for Christmas gifts.  I hand painted each pair and gave them a personality reflecting each receiver.  I have always loved to draw and paint but never considered myself very good at it.  Everyone did seem to love them and I had numerous crafting friends encouraging me to start a business so they could order a pair.  I have had that in the back of my mind and recently decided to give it a try!  Oh, what fun I have been having!  So far, I have made my second pair of Wicked shoes, Minnie and Mickey Mouse, Winnie the Pooh and friends, and some very sparkly wise owls.  I made a Facebook page called RockinYourShoes if you would like to check them out or order a pair for yourself. !There are also two pair on their way to me and I can not wait to paint them!  I think a Lilly Pulitzer print and a Dr. Suess Cat in the Hat pair!  So, Elphaba was on my first pair and I am hoping to make this shoe business fly high or at least a little higher.

I am so looking forward to a little get away this week.  My husband and I are headed to Nashville to see some friends!  My friend and I met through a virtual group for pastor's wives and women in ministry!   I can not express how emotionally cleansing it has been to connect on a level of understanding like I have been able to with her.  Friendship truly is priceless and I am so thankful for her.  I actually feel so blessed as God has given me several wonderful friendships....all of which I am sure to be talking about from time to time.  Short blog for today and more later.  I am finishing up some sweet cake pops that will also be making the trip!
