Tunesday Tuesday: Fave 80s Jam

We all need a little music in our lives. A good song can answer a question, soothe the soul and provide an escape. It can recall a memory in the most vivid detail and evoke the most intense feelings.
“Music is the great uniter. An incredible force. Something that people who differ on everything and anything else can have in common.” -Sarah Dessen
We created Tunesday Tuesday to do just that, bring people together through music.
Every Monday night at 9pm the link up will go live at The Patchwork Paisley, Drinking the Whole BottleMrsTeeLoveLifeLaughter-
AND  welcoming our new permanent co-host, Beth from Structure in an Unstructured Life!
We will designate a theme, and hope that you will share a song that embodies said theme for you. Post the video for the song, an audio clip, the lyrics- however you want to do it. Then, write a little something about why this song captures the week's theme and link up your post here with us!
Visit your hosts after 9pm (EST) on Monday nights
to find out what the theme is for the week!
It would be awesome if you would follow your lovely hostesses (links below,) but other than that- let's have fun with this! Know a fellow music lover who should get in on the party? Let them know about it! Want to share your groove with the world? Tweet it should you feel so inclined. Want to grab a button? Go for it. It's really pretty and you'll find it down below.

I am so excited to be joining the Tunesday Team as one of the hosts! I have loved the opportunity this link up has provided to share music and what it means to me. I always seem to have some kind of a soundtrack running through my life, whether it is the car radio, iTunes in the kitchen, or the country music video channel on the TV. Music is almost always our background music of choice, and that means songs seem to always be reminding me of one time or another, or one person or another, in my life.

This week's theme was too big to only pick one song. I mean, a whole decade whittled down to one singular choice? No way. So I selected a few favorite 80's jams form through out the decade. Think of it as a sampler. First pick is one from the early days. The very first record I ever owned was Michael Jackson's Thriller album. I was beyond excited to unwrap that one Christmas morning. I played the heck out of that album on my Fisher Price record player. While Thriller and Billie Jean are the hits most people recall from that album, my fave was P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing).

Next on my our of the 80's, the ultimate romance song of the decade. I'm sure my parents loved when I would belt this out from my bedroom, since even at early age it was clear I could not carry a tune in a bucket. And even to this day, if I find this song as I'm scanning through radio stations in the car, I will stop and belt it out. My romance song pick for the 80's is Total Eclipse of the Heart from Bonnie Tyler.

Finally, my last stop on the 80's tour, is a song I fondly remember from my junior high days. Nothing like a good song to remind you of spin the bottle in someone's basement and drama filled dances in a cafeteria. While I would never in a million years want to go back to the days middle school, filled with the acne, anxiety, and overall awkwardness, it did hold some good tunes. So my junior high 80's jam pick is the Guns n' Roses classic, Paradise City.

What are your favorite 80's jams? Link up with us if you have them posted on your blog, or I'd love to hear in the comments what your pick (or picks) would be!!
