The state of Hawaii has discontinued a universal healthcare insurance program for children after only 7 months as reported here.
From the AP report: 'Kenny Fink, administrator for Med-QUEST at the Hawaii Department of Human Services, said, "People who were already able to afford health care began to stop paying for it so they could get it for free." He added, "I don't believe that was the intent of the program" '
Money. Money managed under the moniker of universal healthcare. It was more money, cost more to try to insure every child than the state could afford. You could suppose lots of reasons for this system to fail. This is not a comparison with another country - Canada or UK. Universal healthcare failed in a state in the US.
