  1. I watched The Wedding

It was a great viewing party, but now I have to actually focus and do some work!--- Not Fainthearted http://notfainthearted.com  Read more >

  2. Now What?

This is day 3 of my No New Groceries challenge, wherein I attempt to live off the fat I’ve stored in my freezer and pantry. I'm pretty sure I'll bore myself silly if all I blog about for the next month is this No New Groceries thing. On the other hand, it's still fresh and new and I have a lot of "And another thing!" remarks to make. So here goes...  Read more >

  3. Wait...What did I say?

This is day 2 of my No New Groceries challenge, wherein I attempt to live off the fat I’ve stored in my freezer and pantry. Perhaps I should have thought about this for a little longer. I mean really. Who starts a crazy project like this on a whim? And what kind of a lunatic does it in public by blogging it? (If you can call three people a public.) And what kind of a kook does this in the autumn? Isn’t this when we are biologically programmed to be storing food? You know, ensuring the survival of the clan through the long, cold winter? Seems like this could go against human nature somehow, doesn’t it?  Read more >

  4. I've stopped buying groceries

No, I'm not crazy. And I haven't found a sugar daddy or moved to a commune. Yet. OK. Here's the deal. I think I have the Hoarder gene from my grandma. For me it manifests a little differently than it did for her (read: I don't have 247 sweaters and she did.) For me it's food.  And maybe office/school supplies.  Read more >

  5. Be thankful and appreciate the good in life

This keeps coming up lately so it must be something I'm supposed to pay attention to. I saw my therapist yesterday. First time in over a year. Not because I didn't want (or need) to go in but because of financial reasons. Blah Blah Blah. Not the point here. Can I focus, please? OK. So aside from playing "Let's see if I can catch you up on a whole year in a little less than half an hour" so that I would have half a chance of squeezing some information out of the guy, it was a good visit.  Read more >

  6. It's the little things

They’re easy to miss. Even easier to dismiss. But those “little things” that friends do, that lovers do, tell you more about what they’re thinking and feeling than even their words. Sometimes that’s true because we’re not even aware of what we’re feeling. Sometimes our actions speak over our denial of what we’re feeling (or what we’re not feeling.)  Read more >

  7. making sense of it.....or not

Journaling at the extremes of the day leaves you open to what’s truly in your unconscious and on your heart. It may not be comprehensible but it never will be until you get it out and look at it. At least that’s my story. And I’m sticking with it today. Read more.  Read more >

About Me:

Happy 2012! It's true what they say: update your profile every year. Boy, have things changed since I signed on here at Blogher.

So who am I these days and what am I doing in the blogosphere?

I've been blogging since November 2004 and have basically chronicled my journey through divorce, graduate school, corporate work and finding a call as a deaconess.

I quit my corporate job in December 2011 and am making a go of it as a part-time choir director (the call part) and as an independent leadership consultant. I am bringing the relevant leadership lessons learned in corporate America to the non-profit/religious organizations.

I'm married again - to G. Through him I am a step-mom/MIL to 2 boys aged 30 and 28 and their wives. I have two boys aged 20 (DS1) and 18 (DS2). One in college and one a highschool senior. In December 2011, Darling Daughter-in-law #1 (DDIL1) and DSS1 delivered the first grandchild (DGS1).

And yes, that means I'm basically surrounded by testosterone. Thanks for asking.

So this year, I'm working from home and trying to stay on a budget that is a little more than a third of what we brought in when I had the corporate paycheck. That way, I can take time to build the business the way it should be and not just take contract jobs that get me right back into the mess I was in before.

We live right in Minneapolis in a 100 year old house with Libby the Wonder Poodle and Snowball the rat-in-a-dog-suit.

I write to try to make sense of it all.
