  1. Would You Let Your Six-Year-Old Walk Home Alone?

    School Bus

Each time she has asked me this question (every day, for the past 14 days, multiple times each day OMG) my answer has been, "no." And her response has always been, "but why not?" And my response is always, "because you're too young." And her response has always been, "but I know that I need to stay on the side of the road and watch for cars and not to get in a stranger's car!"  Read more >

  2. Getting Over My Insecurities and Writing Through It

    Blog

I want to write. I want to write something that will make you laugh. I want to write something that will make you cry. I want to write something that will make you nod your head in agreement. I want to write something that will make you shake your fist at your computer monitor in anger. I want to make something that will make you think.  Read more >

  4. I Guess What I'm Trying to Say Is That I'm Tired of Feeling Intimidated to Write On My Own Blog

    Intimidated

I still remember the first time I found "blogs."  I had followed a link from a weight watchers chat room. The blog was written by a woman named Melly. Ordinary Morning, was the name of the blog.  It was 2001.  It was the most amazing thing I had ever seen on the Internet.  Read more >

  5. Who's In? Join Me for Karaoke at BlogHer '09!

I have a confession: I used to think Karaoke was lame. I could not relate on any level to people who enjoyed it. Then, one night while out with friends, I decided to see what the fuss was all about. I chose a song from my favorite Boy Band, grabbed the mic and let it rip. It was magical. From that moment on, I was hooked. I got it. I understood why people PURPOSELY PLANNED TRIPS to karaoke bars. All the proof you need that I love karaoke with all of my heart is right here in this video from a night of karaoke in NYC last year:  Read more >

  7. I spoke with Michael from Zona Rosa Caffe in Pasadena (looks like a fabulous place!).  He's 95% sure he can host our meet-up there.  What I need to know though is how many people are going to attend.  He wants to make sure to have enough staff to accomodate our group.  If you plan on coming, please let me know here! Thanks!    Read more >

  8. Based on responses and emails, I've decided to plan our Pre BlogHer meetup on Saturday, June 13th.  Time will be early.  10-11ish.  Now, I just have to secure a place.  What I want to know from you all is would you prefer a park setting where we bring our own food/drink. Or something like a coffee shop/restaurant?  Decision, time/place will be made my Tuesday.  I'm truly excited to see you on the 13th. :)       Read more >

  10. When: June 13th (but we can do it on the 6th as well.) Where: Somewhere where we can do a casual, family friendly meet up in LA. We can do potluck style or just meet up for coffee/drinks.  I'm open for suggestions at this point. Time: Again, open to suggestions.   Please don't hold back with the suggestions!  Read more >
