    hi there,I am going to BlogHer for the very first time this year, and part of my excitement involves taking the amtrak train from where I live in Martinsburg, WV over to DC - and then I *had* planned on going from DC to NY, but now realize I simply can't afford it (especially round trip!).  So I'm hoping, instead, to find someone (or someones) to carpool with from DC to NY.  Is this an impossible dream? I'll be arriving into Union Station in DC at 1pm(ish) on Thursday, August 5th. Do you have any suggestions?  I need help, y'all!  Read more >

    Nervous & excited, excited & nervous.  I'm betting that I'm not the only one who is feeling these feelings today.  In 2 days, I'll be loading up 3 kids, 1 hub, 1 overnight bag, a handful of shiny new business cards and myself in the car and heading to my very first blogging conference!   Read more >

About Me: 

I am a 45 yr old  mom of 3 children, quasi-married for nearly 17 years and thoroughly enjoying the blogosphere. I keep a few blogs, but my family blog is what keeps me sane(ish) :)

Former breastfeeder, current homeschooler, co-sleeper and all around "weird" one of the family, I am also the oldest of 4, the youngest 2 being 13 & 14 years younger than me. 

Currently, I am a full time college student (distance learning), and hope some day to get a job at something slightly more prestigious than "you want fries with that?".

Have survived 3 c-sections, 2 hernia repairs and a small bowel obstruction that required my surgeon to remove adhesions from my small intestine.  Yay me!  About to go for another ct scan to verify the presence of yet another hernia, and thus the inevitability of ANOTHER abdominal surgery.  #(&*!
