  1. Paleo: Week 1

One week of eating semi-to-mostly Paleo is in the books. How did it go? Well, I lost three pounds. I’m not going to get too excited about that because I can gain those three pounds back in about 20 minutes if I’m not careful. I feel great and my skin looks good too. I’ve been reading The Paleo Diet by Loren Cordain, I’m about 75% done and I’ve learned a lot.  Read more >

  4. Goodbye ugly green left behind chair

Tonight I said goodbye to this Lazy Boy reclining chair. I’m thinking it’s circa 1970 and it came with our bungalow that we bought in 2000. We were the third owners of the house, but technically the second because the it was owned by a family who gave it to their daughter. She lived there her entire life and was in a nursing home when we bought it from her. (The cushion is missing because it was in the washing machine.)  Read more >

  5. It's Maisy's birthday!

Today my little bitty baby Boxer that we got when she was just six weeks old is 10. I suppose that is 70 in dog years, but I’d rather think of it as she is 10. She’s become a very important part of our family over the last 10 years, and as you can see, Maisy and Zoe started off as babies together.  Read more >

  6. What if?

When we were first married we lived in my college apartment on Milwaukee’s east side. It was a great place, except there really wasn’t a kitchen. Our kitchen was a converted walk-in closet and we cooked on hot plates and toaster ovens. Plural. Toaster ovens. We were looking for a place to move, and I’m not entirely sure how it all it happened, but we ended up being shown two duplexes that were owned by the same rental company. He was a nice guy, he owned a lot of properties on the east side, and he also was a member of the congregation that my husband worked at.  Read more >

  7. Calling out the bully

A few years ago I wrote this post. I never named names, however the nosy next door neighbor of this girl certainly knew who I was talking about — because he alerted her parents to this kid’s actions. And then I got a phone call. The mother and I had a conversation, she said she talked to her daughter and that she admit that she rang our bell, and ran because my husband scared her off. I thought it was interesting that they bought her story, but whatever, we agreed that our kid’s both needed time apart from each other.  Read more >

  8. Just so close

Sometimes I feel like this is my life: As much I try to get ahead, I’m just so close, yet never can grasp it.  Read more >

  9. Birthplace of the American League

On Saturday, after visiting the Milwaukee Art Museum to see the Impressionism exhibit, we went out for pizza. Originally we were going to this place called Brick Pizza, but it turned out to be a pizza by the slice joint. No thank you.So we kept on walking down Old World 3rd St.We crossed State St. and the building where my husband works. On the other side of the building is this HUGE parking lot that is fenced in with a gate.Me: Who gets to park there?Him: Not me.  Read more >

  10. I was supposed to set a goal?

It’s the closing of 2011 and it seems that the running community is discussing all of their 2011 goals, and if they met them. It appears that I did not set any goals this year. Go figure.Well, let me clarify that. I found a post that I drafted about this time last year, however I never finished it.  Read more >
