  1. Childhood memories and attachment parenting

I had never heard of the terms attachment parenting or unconditional parenting before I had my daughter, now 2 and a half years old. Before that though the parenting had been largely guided by one thing that stood out above all, a message that I could almost HEAR in my head, ‘do not be like your mother, be like your Dad.’ Attachment parenting, even unconditional parenting is what I strive for in my life as a parent. A message someone posted on facebook prompted me to think about happy memories of my parents. Very sadly I have only one thing that makes me smile about my mother.  Read more >

  2. ADHD and big sunglasses

I wear big sunglasses. Part of the reason for this is that my son has ADHD. Most days the day will both start and finish with someone in the household crying as a result of it. The big sunglasses have caused people to remark that maybe I was trying to look like Victoria Beckham (yeah right) or that I ‘must’ be ‘one of those yummy mummy types.  Read more >

  3. How did this happen?

I don't know when it started to happen, but about a month ago I was feeling upset and tired, mixture of things really. I blurted out to my husband that i was fed up of always being at the bottom of the pecking order. I know what prompted it at the time, but me actually saying that was a bolt from the blue, I am not that kind of person. what happened is that i was getting our toddler off to sleep and he came into the bedroom.  Read more >

  4. Getting organised. Yeah. right.

Well the meal planner is printed for the next month, the 'sin bin' is by the front door. That is a bag which contains all the toys left strewn about in inappropriate places. I read one book suggesting that children complete one chore in order to earn back such items. ok. My kids would be doing chores until they are ready to go to university!  Read more >

  5. Ditch the to do list for one day!

At the end of the day I am going to write a list of all the things I have DONE, a 'done list' rather than starting the day with a to do list. When we have a to-do-list we often set ourselves up for a fall, or have unrealistic expectations of ourselves. I am going to make myself a cup of tea later and congratulate myself on what i have done today rather than worry about what I have not done.  Read more >

  6. What next ?...itchy feet already

Since 2002 I have been back to college to study psychology, worked in a nightclub, been a volunteer worker, set up and closed down a small business, sat med school entrance exam (only just missed getting the right score due to having been hospitalised with a mystery virus just days before), applied to do an M.A.  Read more >

  7. I am back!

Since the last post all that time ago i have had a gorgeous baby girl, on 2nd october 2008, and for now at least am a stop at home mum. things are progressing with my son who has at last been referred to a neurologist. 8. Why I have not blogged...long story!

Why have I not blogged for so long? Couple odf days after my last post I found out i was pregnant. My Mum was staying and she is one of these people who cannot let you do something without watching over you. Even though I am 37 years old, she has to watch me vacuum, cook, do my work online - it is tremendously irritating. Then I did not want to tell anyone of the pregnancy until I got the all clear. On Monday 2 weeks ago I lost some blood, I was 9 weeks pg. Went to the doctor, had a scan, no heartbeat detected.  Read more >

  9. Oops again! Definitely a Busy LIfe!

I am still settling into my new career of 'wife and mother' and not doing too badly. Stil unsure what time of day is the best to blog as I have found - you can see - I missed a few days due to thinking 'I will do it when I can. A strange mixture of problems but problems being solved, changes happening lately around here.  Read more >

  10. Looking for someone you don't really want to find!
