  1. How Do You Know if You can Trust a Locksmith

This morning I managed to lock myself out of our bedroom.  A few years ago, when our teenage son was living here, people were in and out of the house at crazy hours.  That got me scared for guarding my precious little treasures so I put a lock on the door, a real lock that needs a key to open.  Read more >

  2. Where is My Mojo? Menopause Relationships and Sex after 40

On Thursday, Laura Giardina contacted me via email asking if I would be interested in doing a 15 minute video interview with Pepper Schwartz (bio)and Replens Long-Lasting Feminine Moisturizer.  Pepper is a relationship ambassador of AARP and she  is also a sex & relationship expert.  The interview is to talk about relationships, communication, intimacy and sex after 40.  Read more >

  3. Unwanted Excitement on Wedding Day

My daughter’s sister in law got married on Saturday, and I had promised that hubby and I would take care of the little ones so everyone could enjoy themselves at the wedding.  There were a few hours between the ceremony and the reception, so the plan was to either drive the babies around for an hour so they would nap in the car, or to take them home for naps in their beds.   Read more >

  4. Brooklyn Beans Roastery

Brooklyn Beans Roastery Our Keurig Platinum B70 has been one of my favorite all time coffee makers.  We became single pod coffee machine users when Tassimo first came out years ago. Gevalia was our favorite coffee back then and we were thrilled to be able to make one fresh cup at a time.  Neither hubby or I like the taste of coffee that has been sitting in a pot on the warm setting for any length of time.     Read more >

  5. Counting Every Stroke

Counting All of My StrokesWhen hubby and I met in a Yahoo chat room called Golf, I kind of knew that golf would be a integral part of our relationship.  Golf was good for a while, he was always just a little better than me, enough to make me try hard to score lower than he did.  Back then, we counted every stroke.     Read more >

  6. HATERS ONLINE: Someone Cyber Bullied my Adult Daughter

My momma bear instincts have kicked in.  Although I won’t post a comment on the blog page of the person who wrote the hate blog, I feel the need to unload my feelings and share with you.  I want to get the word out about this kind of hate. I want to ask for some advice on handling the feelings that have surfaced because of it.    Read more >

  7. Golf: Do New Clubs Improve Your Game?

New Golf ClubsI met my husband 13 years ago in a Golf chat room on Yahoo.  So right there tells you we are both golf nuts.  Seriously... we met in golf chat!    Read more >

  8. A Friend is Forever

NaBloPoMo May, Day 4Friday, May 4, 2012 Who wouldn't let you play with them as a child?See here we go again.  Focusing on the negative.  Or dredging up hard feelings from our childhood.  My childhood was rough enough and I’ve been trying to keep it under wraps, the bad parts anyway.  So instead I will talk about something different.  A friend.  Read more >

  9. NaBloPoMo May Prompts are Making Me Uncomfortable

Thursday, May 3, 2012Talk about a toy you broke as a child.I don’t remember ever breaking any toys as a child.  What I do remember though is that my dad used to hide licorice on the top shelf of the cabinet beside the refrigerator.  He would share them with me every now and they, his secret stash of candy.   Read more >

  10. Friends From My Childhood

BlogHer NaBloPoMo Tuesday, May 1, 2012 (I seemed to have gotten yesterday and today's prompts confused)Who did you play with as a child? After we moved to our single family home in Bausman PA, I played with a gal from school named Karen.  She lived a few blocks away from my house.  She didn’t like to do the same kinds of things I did, she was a girly girl and liked to play with Barbies.  I like to build forts and climb trees.    Read more >

About Me:

Hi, I'm Karen.  Nice to meet you!  My hobbies are floral photography and gardening.  I plant my garden with flowers for their artistic potential.  I love dahlias and cosmos, and quite frankly anything that blooms.  I belong to Boerner Botanical Gardens in Hales Corners, WI.  I go there for photo's and inspiration.

I hail from Milwaukee suburbia, the Fox River runs just past our property line.  I'm the proud mom of 2 incredible children, one is 29 and the other is 31.  There are also 2 beautiful and sweet grandbabies in my life.  And 4 pups.  Turbo, Holly, Ted E Bear and Cho Cho (named after ChoChoSan in Madame Butterfly).

I shoot with a Nikon D300 and mainly the 105mm micro for macro shots, and the 28-300mm for everything else.  When we are somewhere like the zoo to shoot, you can hear me muttering "i wish i had more zoom".

I often wish I had taken more photos, but no regrets of anything I missed.

The Indigo Girls and The Beatles are a few of my favorite bands, but my music taste varies widely from rock to Opera.

I've been to one Blogher Convention in San Diego in 2011.  Seeing how many women out there are like me with something to say inspired me to start writing again.

This year I will be a 5 year breast cancer survivor!
