  1. Aussie bloggers

A group of three passionate bloggers in Australia started up a new website called Aussie bloggers recently. It kickstarted with a forum to get interest and discussion going and the accompanying blog launched one month ago. The forum now boasts 363 members and it is a very active forum. It's not just open to Australians though, everyone is welcome and while it's mostly Australian, there are people from all over the world also.  Read more >

  2. Web Directions South 2007 conference

I didn't make it to BlogHer this year but I did manage to get to Sydney for the Web Directions South conference last week. There were some great speakers, some great people and I had four childfree days. Bliss! Read more about it here and here. I plan to do a couple more posts about it too, so check back in over the next few days.  Read more >

  3. Group writing projects

A way of getting some inspiration for writing is to join group writing projects. Usually the people holding the group writing projects offer prizes which is always a drawcard for me. It's a win-win situation all round because: - you get to write material for your blog - you have a chance to win prizes - you get the potential for additional readers when your link is posted on the host's blog - they also get more readers due to the project.  Read more >

  4. Do you travel by plane with your kids?

On the weekend I went on a mini-holiday with my six year old son. It had taken five years to get over the last holiday via plane with him. We have travelled to destinations via car, but getting to a destination by plane changes the dynamic. For a start there's less space to pack things you may need. See how it turned out.  Read more >

  5. Should you get your own domain?

My relationship with blogging has reached the next level. I talked a while back about my blog being almost the longest relationship I've ever had. We had a talk, my blog and I, and we decided that it deserved its own domain name, that it had been far too long living with Typepad's name. Off we went to GoDaddy and registered www.semanticallydriven.com.  Read more >

  6. All Women Blogging Carnival #8

I'm hosting this week's All Women Blogging Carnival. Please come on over to participate and to read what other women have posted. You can talk about anything. You just need to be a woman with a blog. So far there's a couple of contest offers and an interesting post about phenomenons. Jaycee blogs at Semantically driven and Safari suit.  Read more >

  7. I'm offering to make someone a weblog banner

I fairly frequently dabble in doing my own weblog banners just for a bit of a change to my site because I get bored with how it looks. I thought a BlogHer might like a new banner, so I'm offering to do one. Read my blog post for further details.  Read more >

  8. Oxymoronic WorkChoices

With particular emphasis on moronic in my title, our esteemed Australian government brought in WorkChoices legislation in March 2006. It is an oxymoron because there are not really any choices in the updated Workplace Relations Act. In fact, it took a lot of choice and money away from many workers - mostly from workers who could ill afford it. Read the rest of this.  Read more >
