    #1 son living in Manhattan said you couldn't find a hotel room in the Big Apple for under $200 a night.  Scored the Grand Hyatt at Grand Central through Priceline for $119.  After taxes $150.  With Hyatt loyalty card - free coffee and bottled water for the day (and the rest of the stay!)     I love a lot of the Christmas songs.  Ones that just celebrate the joy of being alive. Corny, traditional, reliable. But as I started to hum, "IT'S STARTING TO FEEL A LOT LIKE CHRISTMASS", I began to sing, "It's starting to feel a lot like....year-end" Does the noise in our heads never cease?     As a teen I was always proud to say - I don't drink milk.  Diet Coke was was drink of choice.  Every calorie was viewed by me as an investment on my backside - one that I didn't need because I was bored looking like Jennifer Lopez at 30. I was looking backward when I should've been looking forward. To my horror, I discovered at 50, that peak bone mass is achieved by age 16 for women and that the critical time to do that bodybuilding was during puberty when I was conserving calories for gravy and fries.   Read more >

    In Toronto fear is riding high about swine flu, pandemic, access to vaccine and whether to be vaccinated at all.  Since a 13 year old Ontario athlete came down with the swine flu and suddenly died last week, the metropolitan discussion went from: It can't be as a bad as "they" will say it will be to "Where can you get the vaccine?" to "Why didn't the government plan better?"
