Jenarcissist & KameraWhore

We need to get back in touch with the kind of self-love we owned as children before life or adults taught us otherwise.

We as women are taught from a young age to be humble and not to appear as though we think we're as incredible as we really are. We think that philosophy needs to change.

It's not really about being conceited; it's about celebrating yourself, inside and out, because you know that you are capable of doing and being anything you want!

OMG! I'm Going to Be a Grandmother and What Are All of These New-Fangled Products, Anyway?

OMG, having a baby is a whole lot harder nowadays than it was when I was having them. Who knew something so basic could change so much in 25 or 30 years? Seriously, do babies (and parents) really need all of these new fangled products, or deluxe products? Take diapers, for instance. Even disposable diapers are more confusing today than they were 25 years ago....more

Happiness

The husband and I got into an almost heated discussion the other night. Back story: husband is a positive person, I try to be but sometimes I'm just not. DH can find a bright side to every piece of mud he sees and sometimes I swear my contacts are caked in it.Somehow or another we got onto the subject of happiness, he feels happiness is a choice people make. I disagree.I do think "faking it til you make it" works for some, I also think some people do decide to be miserable and look for things to be sour about. But sometimes for some, I think it can be hard to actually be happy. ...more

The Messages We Give Girls about Beauty

I have called my son “beautiful” and “gorgeous” all his life. He’s beautiful inside and out, and I never thought twice about using these words with him. But now that I have a little girl, I find myself calling her beautiful and then following it with “and so smart.” And now that she walks around in her dresses and twirls her little body in a circle in front of the mirror, and says, “I’m beautiful,” I’m not sure what to make of it. ...more

Are You Addicted to Anxiety?

Do you secretly enjoy being anxious? Do you choose hyperactive and anxious over peace of mind and happiness (even if unconsciously)? If you secretly answered yes, you are not alone. Being addicted to anxiety is surprisingly one way that people boost performance and find comfort. ...more

Battle of the Quick Dry Nail Polishes

If all nail polishes were created equal, then choosing the perfect polish would be a piece of cake. You'd simply choose the color you like best, and bam! Your fingertips become fabulous. But we know that all nail polishes are not the same, and this is especially true when it comes to quick dry polishes. I mean, think about it -- if they all worked as well as the slower-drying versions, that would be the only thing we'd use, right? ...more

I Want to Stop Being That Girl on the Sidelines

I like to name it as if it's part of my past. But the fear must still be there, though masked and safely contained, because I don't think I ever really dealt with it, that I ever truly faced it. I say it like I'm some sort of recovering self-inflicting fear-monger. But if I were to squeeze back into the suit and wrestle my mind up the elevator to the 11th floor, I'd still cower to the same gutless avoidance of risk, wouldn't I? ...more

Are You Beautiful?

Do you ever wonder if any women are happy with the way they look? Is it even possible? The cosmetics industry and traditional fashion media would have us think that the answer is no; after all, they make their money playing on our fears about our appearance -- and offering us salvation in the form of eye cream and skinny jeans....more

I didn't always feel that way, but I do now.
