  1. Happy Mothers Day Mom!

Happy Mother’s Day y’all! Today’s blog is dedicated to my mom Gloria. I am trying to find the words to express my love, respect and admiration for one of the most important people in my life.  So I will keep it simple. Mom thank you for teaching me to laugh, love, respect all of God’s creatures, believe in myself, know that I can be and achieve anything I put my mind, effort, heart and soul in to.   Read more >

  2. Break out the Margaritas's!

Viva! Cinco de Mayo! Do you know why we celebrate Cinco de Mayo in the US? Some people seem to think that Cinco de Mayo, May 5th is a celebration of Mexico’s Independence from Spain.  Not true, Mexico declared Independence from Spain on September 15th 1810. Now that we have cleared that up, on May 5th, 1862 in Pueblo Mexico the Mexican army of 4,000 soldiers defeated the French Army of 8,000.   Read more >

  3. Burn Off Some Extra Calories by Drinking Ice Water!

Today while I was exercising I switched on the TV to the Rachael Ray show, Dr. Travis Stork was on the show, imagine this they were discussing weight loss. I missed the first part of the program, when I tuned in Dr. Travis and Rachael were discussing how eight glasses of ice water a day can help with weight loss. This caught my attention; I usually make every effort to drink about eight glasses of ice water a day, I decided to check out Rachael Ray’s website for more details.  Read more >

  4. Scallop Salad, Lunch with a Friend

Perfectly grilled, broiled or sautéed scallops are one of my favourite dishes, and with the first bite I am transported to the west coast. I can visualize the sunset; imagine the gentle breeze blowing through my hair and the smell of the ocean. Oh the wonderful memories of Del Mar, the Cove at Solana Beach, Cardiff Reef, Moonlight Beach and Stone Steps in Leucadia, California.   Read more >

  5. Yikes! My First Sighting of Mr. Lizard in my Garden!

Lizard sighting! I was so excited when my hubby yelled for me to step outside on the back patio and I was greeted by one of my resident chameleons on the first day of Spring! One of my resident chameleons was hanging out in its favorite spot, on the black rod iron fence that surrounds my small but lovely back yard.   Read more >

  6. Lizards, frogs and gardens, just can't wait for all the critters!

Container Garden on the Patio Over ten years ago I read an article about planting a container garden which conjured up a vision of fresh tomatoes, peppers, basil, rosemary and thyme dancing through my mind. My first container garden included five pots and were set-up on my patio right outside my kitchen window,  always in view and easy to tend to.   Read more >

  7. Join me for a Traditional St. Patrick's Day Feast!

On Saturday March 17th in many countries the Irish and those who become Irish for a day will celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day. 9. "Have You Read The Book?" Book Club, Tacos & Redneck Caviar!

Last Tuesday we held our first book club meeting of the year, if memory serves me, our neighborhood book club was established in 2005, I think. Oh well we have just kicked off the 2012 season with a very intense and interesting book “Heaven is for Real” by Todd Burpo and Lynn Vincent, which was published November 2010.   Read more >

  10. Raspberry Ketone, does it really work? I am going to find out!

My head is spinning from watching Dr Oz! Can Raspberry Ketone supplements really help me lose those extra pounds that I can’t seem to leave behind? Oh, they are on my backside! Are you confused about what to eat, which supplements to take or do you really need to be taking supplements. And is coconut oil really good for you?  Well I am confused, and after watching the Dr. Oz show I have decided to try out some of Dr Oz’s recommendations and figure out what works for me.   Read more >

About Me:

I love to cook for my hubby, family & friends! They are always willing to try new recipes that I create. I spent thirty years in sales & marketing and when my position was eliminated, like so many of you I began searching for a new job and maybe a new career where I could utilize my extensive experience.

And in an attempt to fulfill a long time goal and in between substitute teaching, participating in a work share program at a local organic farm and providing sales support for a local builder, I am currently writing a cookbook.

I thought it would be a good idea to start blogging, share some recipes and receive feedback from the foodie community. Cheers!
