Joy Lives in Small Places

It's easy to fall into this negative way of thinking: I don't have enough (insert item here), I wish I had (insert item here), everyone else has (insert item here) but me. My life sucks. It might be an easy thought pattern to get into, but it will destroy you. It will eat away at your joy like a cancer until there is nothing left but bitterness. I've seen it too many times. I choose joy. ...more

12 Crafting Days of Christmas - Mid-Madness Wrap-Up

The days are ticking by...5 days until Christmas! Anyway, as it was last year, I have but a few days left to finish crafting and it will not be nearly enough time to complete what I had planned. So, here's my mid-madness wrap-up. If I don't remind myself of what we've completed in our home this month, I will continue to stress out over what still needs to be done.  Here's a peek at our mania Christmas-y goodness....more

SchoolhouseTeachers.com - A Review

We’ve spent the last couple of weeks testing out the yearly membership from SchoolhouseTeachers.com. I’ve used it, tried it with my kids, and now I am here to review it for you. I hope this post helps you decide if this would be a good fit for your own homeschool....more

DIY: Pinterest Lego Trays

Day two of my 12 Crafting Days of Christmas series is building Lego trays. Now, when I first saw this project, I wanted to make just two of these: one for each of my boys. It’s turned into an adventure, folks. My husband decided that he wanted to earn some extra Christmas cash, so he set out to make a bunch of these. We bought Lego base plates on Black Friday, went to Home Depot and loaded up on wood, and set out to make a bunch of these to sell at a craft fair before the holiday comes. Isn’t that the way it goes?...more

DIY: Pinterest Christmas Tree Ornaments

Does anyone else feel like the Christmas season goes by like a DVD on fast forward? I feel like I haven't taken a breath that wasn't in anticipation of the next thing in at least a month. Even my day of rest every week is over-shadowed by stuff I want to do, even if it's not work looming overhead. My creative brain is working overtime, and I cannot stop my hands for even a moment, lest I fall behind. I don't think I would have it any other way, though....more

Glorious Phoenix Winter - A Peek Into My Garden

I know it's not technically winter yet, but I say it's winter. You see, I like to pretend it's winter for as much of the year as possible. I am a girl who grew up in the cold, and I miss it. Phoenix heat just kills me, and I go out of my way to enjoy the "cold" weather once it gets here. If you live somewhere that is actually freezing right now, I'm sorry for being ungrateful; I know the weather is glorious here, but I really miss real winter....more

12 Crafting Days of Christmas

No to alarm anyone, but there are only 26 days until Christmas. This is a fair amount of time, unless you are crafting. 26 days in crafting time is like the blink of an eye. If you are like me, you have more projects lined up than you can actually complete in this amount of time....more

How to Talk to Moms (Even When They Are Hard to Talk to!)

If you're anything like me, human and prone to making mistakes or being awkward, you probably grimace at the thought of talking to people you don't know. It gets worse when it is someone you don't like very much, or even worse when it's a group of people that you don't like. However, we all have to learn how to get along with one another, and I challenge you to talk to people you don't like, and even try to encourage them....more

Nature Study - An E-Book Review

I was recently given the opportunity to do a review for The Old Schoolhouse Magazine. I received their e-book Creative Nature Study for free in exchange for my honest review of the book and how well it worked in our home school. If you are interested in the e-book, you can find it here at their website....more

Water Kefir Explosion!

We have been making water kefir at my house for a couple of years now. I am prone to slacking off during the hot Arizona summer months, but I love to have a few flavors in my fridge most of the rest of the year.  Water kefir is an amazing probiotic drink and I especially love to have it on hand for cold and flu season....more
