  1. The First Meeting With The Midwife

Looking back on last night there is still one thing - above all - that sticks out about my midwife. She wore toe socks. Not just any toe socks, my friend….rainbow toe socks.  Read more >

  2. A Frugal, Green Childbirth Option

So after all was said and done I didn't qualify for insurance and was beginning to freak out. My OB costs like six-grand for all the prenatal stuff and that price didn't include hospital services or antyhing, which can easily run another $10,000. Then she wanted me to get ultrasounds every month and that's another $350/ea. (I hate ultrasounds.)  Read more >

  3. On Sudden Weight Loss (no diet tips inside)

We were at my grandmother’s house last weekend. Note: My great-grandmother is 93 – we go there a lot – you know, I want to make sure I visited her within one week in case she dies. It’s a guilt thing. I grew up listening to her tell me she wished she spent more time with her mother before she died and now….it’s too late. She’s a smart one, yes she is!  Read more >

  4. The Baby Borrowers – Birth Control? Not Quite…

First off – I love this show. Watching teenagers cope with kids touches the black, dark part of my heart that laughs when people trip. Ok, I don’t really laugh when people trip unless they’re wearing four-inch Manolos or Christian Laboutin shoes (the $400 shoes with the red soles so everyone knows they cost an arm and a leg.) So I may be a bad person, but I’m a normal bad person not the “I laugh at old people” bad person. Shades of gray, my friends, shades of gray...  Read more >

  5. First YouTube, then GodTube, now...

...a site where you can make your own political ads, or pay for someone else's to air on broadcast television. VoterVoter When you first enter the site you are given three options. 1. Sponsor an ad to run on broadcast television2. Create your own ad3. View ads others have made  Read more >

  6. Super-Musings on Super-Tuesday

I've been watching this campaign more closely than ever before. Yup, that sounds dramatic, but really - on one side you have McCain, the anti-christ, and that other guy we're pretty sure isn't going to make it. On the other side...a black guy, a white chick, and a guy who became famous for his $400 haircut. If that doesn't sound like a joke that involves "three people walk into a bar" you must not have been born with a sense of humor.  Read more >

  7. WTF Cigna? WTF?

Sarkis Yan, a 17 year old teen, was denied a kidney transplant by her insurance carrier stating it was “an experimental procedure.” The insurance company changed its mind at the eleventh hour, but it was too late and the teen died. Ok, this is really bunk and I don’t want anyone to think that I think she deserved to die, or that the insurance company is right. Just saying that up front. But they’re suing for MURDER! Like with forethought and foresight.  Read more >

  8. Is Arbor Day in December like having Christmas in July?

Last February there was this really cool offer from the Arbor Day Foundation. You could order a free tree for Arbor Day (for those that don't know, I Googled it for you and Arbor Day is on April 27th.) I vaguely remember thinking "Hmmm - 4-6 weeks? I might get it in time for Arbor Day, and if not, heck, it will be close." Guess what I got in the mail TODAY?!  Read more >

  9. Running Out of the House?

Thinking about running out to a holiday party, networking event or meeting at the last minute? We've all done it before...completely forgotten an engagement, meeting, party or lunch date that we promised to be at. So we spend a half hour trying to make it look like we took two hours to look like we took no time at all to look fabulous.  Read more >

About Me:

I'm a work from home mom that owns two businesses with my husband and does some freelance writing on the side. My three kids are 5, 4, and 7months (I hope I remember to update this regularly or a year from now you'll still think I have a seven month old daughter.)

I blog because journalling is frustrating. My hand cramps when I write more than a paragraph, but I can type for days with no problem. Therefore, I blog.
