  1. OMG! I'm Going To Be A Grandmother!

    pink elephant

I've probably said "OMG I'm going to be a grandmother!" 800 times in the last five months. And when I wasn't saying that, I was saying "WOW!" and "This is awesome!" and also, did I mention, "OMG!"?  Read more >

  2. Extreme Couponing One Year Later

    Denise's Stockpile

On January 18,2011, I saw a post by Family Frugal about Mr Coupon and his appearance on TLC's Extreme Couponing special. This piqued my interest, and I started exploring the world of coupon bloggers. After a week of digging around in their part of the blogosphere, I had a brilliant idea -- I would become an extreme couponer and I'd blog about it! I was picturing a funny series of three or four posts, most of which would be rambling funny pieces about not being able to manage a complete grocery shopping trip (20 minutes in a grocery store and I was ready to ditch the cart and leave) or public arguments between me and my partner about stockpiling. I was going for humor. Or I thought I was.  Read more >

  3. I came so close to crossing off all 10 of my To Dos in January. I'm going to work hard to get all 10 crossed off this month. Seriously. I'm going to DO IT! Here's my list: 1) Straighten up the bookshelves. 2) Read at least five books for my reading challenges. 3) Talk to Haldechick about a custom piece. 4) Go couponing at Menards. 5) Clean out the medicine cabinet. 6) Figure out when I'm going to Hawaii. 7) Clean out the cabinets/shelves in my desk.  Read more >

  4. My first pin of the day -- Peanut Brittle (for Peanut Brittle Day)! http://www.blogher.com/todays-national-peanut-brittle-day ~Denise BlogHer Community Manager Life. Flow. Fluctuate.  Read more >

  5. I quit my first book for 2012 last night. I'm kind of freaked out about that. Until pretty recently, I never quit a book - no matter how much I disliked it or how little I was enjoying it. I'd soldier through it 'til the end, (and gripe a lot about it all the way through.) A few years ago, I quit a book. And then I quit another one. And before I knew it, I was quitting two or three a year.  Read more >

  6. It's a new year and it's time to get serious about my monthly to do lists. I've let them slide for far too long. So here we go... 1) Fix my blog template. 2) Organize the stockpile room. 3) Finish cleaning up the folders on my desk top. 4) Transfer old files to the external drive. 5) Finish cleaning up the iPad and iPhone. 6) Call my father, darn it. 7) Figure out what to get Michelle for her birthday. 8) Straighten up the bookshelves.  Read more >

  7. Someone on Facebook asked for Non-fiction YA recommendations and rather than trying to put a list in a comment on Facebook, I thought I'd just write a post here (and ask y'all to add to the list in the comments.) Here's what I like (though they aren't necessarily new books):  Read more >

  8. I can't believe I didn't manage to do more of my November to dos than I did. I thought for sure I could knock out eight, at least. Life has a way of wreaking havoc with my intentions, that happens to you, right? December will be better! 1) Send out my Christmas cards during the first week of the month. 2) Clean off my desktop, my folders and my bookmarks  Read more >

  9. Extreme Couponing My Way Through Black Friday (and Thanksgiving Thursday)

    Crazy Price Sign

I've never been a big fan of Black Friday shopping and have always preferred the shopping opportunities available on Thanksgiving. Thanks to extreme couponing, I'm more excited by the Thanksgiving day shopping opportunities than I have been in years.  Read more >

  10. Yep, here I am with another day off and another do list to turn into a did list. I did so well on Monday that I'm almost afraid to hold onto hope for today's list. So many things could go wrong, not least of all my desire for a nap (and it's only 6:41am!) Oh well - you can't succeed if you don't try, right? 1) Take the girls to school. 2) Mail two boxes and a bunch of cards/bills at the post office.  Read more >

About Me:

As the BlogHer.com Community Manager, I have the most awesome job in the entire world. I get to wander around the internets and read YOUR blog and talk to you all day on Chatter, Twitter and Facebook. I answer a lot of email, too. (You can always reach me at denise@blogher.com if you have BlogHer related questions, though asking on Chatter is often a wee bit quicker.)

I have the most awesome family in the world too.

My partner and I live in the Chicagoland suburbs (which is not the most awesome place in the world to live) with threefour of our six kids. (The other three are all grown up and living on their own.) My partner's mom (and her little dog too) lives with us as well.

Besides the dog, we have a very loud cockatiel who we're hoping will move out when the middle child goes to college and we have three prairie dogs. Yes, prairie dogs. You can follow their exploits at Prairie Dog Digest.

I read a lot, but not as much as my partner does, and the only TV I watch is Survivor. Now if Buffy or Gilmore Girls returned to TV....
