  3. Mother's Day: Rising Above

Hello and Happy Mother's Day weekend!I couldn't watch this wonderfully inspiring video without passing it on to my friends at BlogHer.When I say that a person can rise above other people's horrible comments and not internalize them, this is of what I am speaking.of. Hard to explain, but this video is worth a hundred thousand words:  Read more >

  4. Women Reading Aloud

Zoe Artemis was of Greek heritage. She had family still in Greece. When I last spoke with her, she was excited, to the point of being effervescent, about her tours to Greece. She took groups over in the summer, introducing them to places and people that only someone with connections would have. She had the most compelling web site on her travels and tours. The photos were nothing short of "yummy." One look and I was ready to get a passport and meet her over there.  Read more >

  6. Zoe's Tribal Dancing

When I first knew Zoe, I was the one who belly-danced. I took belly-dancer for great exercise and camaraderie in the late 1970s. I never danced professionally, although I did act as a "wardrobe mistress" to a couple of dancer friends who did.  Read more >

  7. Zoe Remembers Hunter S. Thompson

Zoe never disappoints. I am fascinated by her.I've received some inquiring BlogHer Comments about Zoe and her travels, as a result of my other two posts. In the 1970s, she was an Administrative Aid in the Carter White House,Introducing Zoe ArtemisZoe's New Feminism  Read more >

  8. Zoe's New Feminism

Zoe Artemis considered herself a New Feminist. It's a concept I have long held as my belief. Many of those who were active in the Feminism of the 1970s grabbed onto the idea that to be equal, women had to be like men. Some women chose to dress in gray pantsuits; some even wore ties, thinking that would level the playing fields in the male bastions of business, medicine and law.  Read more >

  9. Introducing Zoe Artemis

Writing about the Divine Feminine caused me to think of a special person I knew in upstate New York. She was a dancer, a writer a teacher and mentor. She was a very unusual woman. She was spiritual and, at times, didn't seem of this world. And yet her basic information on her FaceBook page was down to earth while stating:  Read more >

  10. Kid Germs

We interrupt the previously scheduled program on the Divine Feminine to kvetch about KID GERMS.Oh my GOODNESS! I am just now returning to life.Remember, never let your child out of the house to play with other kids, because they might catch Kid Germs.Having our food lives more in order, eating strictly organic, drinking raw milk and eating grass fed beef, we are basically never sick. Any hint of sinus or pollen allergy is taken care of by washing the inside of our heads with the Neti Pot and we dare bacteria and viruses to come calling.  Read more >

About Me:

Riding the roller coaster of life, family and finances one unique day at a time, I look back to the 1920s, 30s and 40s when home arts were worthy professions for women. Frying the bacon up in a pan is just as important as bringing it home. Fortunately, now we can do both. But, do we have to? Isn't one enough?
