Wait! Before you think you don’t want to hear about “that Twitter thing,” as someone told me recently, I ask you to pause and listen to a story of exploration that put true meaning behind real-time education. If you are already part of the Twitter adventure, stick around. I’ve listed some great folks that you will want to follow as an individual interested in issues of importance to women and girls today and tomorrow. Last year at about this time I wrote a blog post, “Make New Friends,” that talked about social media, what it was, and how AAUW was using it. I had recently started using Twitter but had not made the time to explore this newish phenom that was starting to make headlines. Wanting to practice what I was preaching, I started making Twitter time and, before I knew it, I was learning more about women’s issues from other’s tweets than I ever did simply scanning the daily news. It was like having my own research team at my fingertips, with links to verifiable information.
