Hi there. I never know how to write these without having them sound like a personal ad!
So here goes. A few things about me. I am an Educational Technology Project Manager at a large university with my Masters Degree in Teaching and Learning. (I have never actually taught as a full time teacher - long story!). Thiss fall I will be attending the Mind, Brain, and Education Program at Harvard Graduate School. Back in school at 38...hmmm it will either make me young or make me feel old!
I'd like to focus my research psychological trauma in childhood and how it impacts learning and also the borader issue of how children construct reality.
Some other random things about me....
I am a...wife (8 years), daughter (37 years), sister (31 years), aunt (2 years), dog mom (10 years), grad student for the 2nd time around, cancer survivor (34 years), list maker, and a peace keeper (always). I hate confrontation and will do whatever I can to avoid it.
I have been told I am...flirty, serious, silly, honest, thoughtful, loyal, dependable, smart, helpful
I love...dogs, kids, books, blogs, reading, a good vodka tonic or an ice cold iced tea, peppermint ice cream, Oreos (oh how I love Oreos!), the beach, the ocean and the sun.
I hate...rudeness, entitlement, people who are condescending, olives, waking up earlier than 7:00 am, winter.
The cancer story in 5 concise lines...
I had a Whilm’s Tumor when I was three and am now proud to be a kick-cancer’s ass survivor
I had my left kidney removed, and chemotherapy and radiation to kick the cancer.
Because of this I am infertile
Because of this I am a type II (medically induced) diabetic and take insulin 1x a day
I deal with depression and anxiety but the manageable kind (mostly) – at it’s worst in the winter – damn the dark cold weather - maybe this is related to the cancer maybe not.
