  1. Wife of Diabetic

    Wife of a Diabetic

I hear him slip out of bed and I look at the clock.  1:41AM.  The same mysterious capability that would wake me when my babies were rustling in the other room even before they cried out works here too.  I’m attuned to these particular night sounds.  When he’s up like this, I am on guard. It’s  the usual routine; first a trip into the bathroom where he tests his blood sugar level, then a trip downstairs.  Read more >

  2. When Your Child is Invisible

    Just Linda's daughter

It was the group with the older girls that caught my interest. I watched for a long time and couldn’t help but think that my child was deemed invisible out there. I watched a half dozen high school cheerleaders being playful and friendly with the adorable little girls and not even one interacted with my daughter.  Read more >

  3. I’m going to the BlogHer conference! ....Unless I chicken out.

In February, when I did my early-bird registration, it seemed like I had plenty of time to seduce a new online BFF to hang out with me in New York in August.  Read more >

  4. I'll read you a book

Last night, my youngest daughter - the only one who cannot read yet, not fully - brought me her bedtime story book.  It was Dr. Seuss's Cat in the Hat and I thought to myself about how much I hate that stupid book, how many times I've read it over the years to each of my five daughters.  It occurred to me that my youngest was on the verge of being able to read for herself so perhaps my time of having to read that was near its end!  Yay!  Read more >

  5. Naked and Raw in Blogging

Recently, Maria Niles wrote an article called Strip Blogging:  How Naked Do You Get? which caught my interest and has given me pause.  I've been thinking about this topic quite a bit since I first read her piece.   Read more >

  6. Give me 'Pause (menopause, that is)

The topic? Menopause. It’s not too late to turn back. Just click that button up on the browser bar and you’ll be free of all this messy woman talk. Go on. Do it. OK, but you’ve been warned. Here’s the deal with menopause: I’m waiting… Come on, bring it. Let’s do this thing. I’m throwing down the gauntlet.  Read more >

  7. Just curious if anyone else was going, and if so was there an interest in having a few pre-conference (local) lunches to get to know each other in advance of the conference?I'll be completely transparent and confess that I'm looking to make a few acquaintences in advance so I don't walk in there completely overwhelmed with strangers.(There, now you have time to run away since you know my agenda.)Either post here or send me a note if interested. JustLinda  Read more >

  8. Why Comments Matter (to me)

I find the sociology behind social networking online fascinating.Quite likely, if you post an article here that has to do with blogging or social networking in general, I will have an opinion that I feel compelled to share.  I will hope that the comments section of your article will burst to life with riveting discussion and dissenting opinions.  I love that stuff.  Truly and well.  Read more >

  9. I'm coming to BlogHer and I'm SKEERED

Hi, I'm Linda.Do you know who I am?  Chances are, you do not.  There is a pretty good chance I don't know who you are either. And yet - we might meet in a few months.  What will we talk about?  Will you be shy?  Will I chatter nervously?  (Answer to that last one: most definitely.)  Read more >

  10. Why We Write

Or, more precisely within this piece, why I write.  But I want to reach out and find out about you, too, so in the end I know more about why WE write.  Will you share?  I'll go first.  Read more >
