  1. Weight loss: Staying Motivated When You're Not Seing Results

So how do you stay motivated when you're not seeing any results?  What's going to keep you going to the gym or doing that workout video or waking up early to run everyday?  I ask the question because that's the situation I find myself in right now. My weight is fluctuating between 165lbs - 169lbs which is down from my high of 172lbs, but nowhere near the 140lbs I'm trying to get back too.  It's beyond frustrating.  Read more >

  2. No One Said Weight Loss is Easy

This is an interesting article, and it makes some valid points, but what I don’t think it fully mentions is that losing weight is actually pretty easy, it’s the keeping it off thats hard. Losing weight is not easy. No one should lull you into believing there is a quick way to lose weight. One important component  Read more >

  7. The 20 Healthiest Foods for Under $1

I don't know about you all, but a trip to the grocery store puts me in a major funk these days. The prices on some basic items such as bread and milk are just unreasonable compared to what they were just a year ago. I can't imagine what families with growing children are going through. Forget about shopping much at my favorite store, Whole Foods.  Read more >

  9. Be a Slave to the Scale

Weigh Yourself Everyday. I know many nutritionists, dietitians and what not say "Don't be a slave to the scale." And that's good advice for when you first start losing weight. Those first couple of weeks of weight loss can be frustrating. You can go up and down, or not move at all. It is easy to get discouraged. So yes, during those early weeks of weight loss I would (if you can) keep your weigh-ins to once a week.  Read more >

  10. If You Want a Cookie, Eat a Cookie

f you want a cookie, eat a cookie. It's my opinion (and only my opinion) that most people with weight problems have a very bad relationship with food; this goes for those of us who overeat as well as those who are anorexic or bulimic. What happens it we separate foods into two categories: good and bad. Then we make a point to eat only the "good" foods and to stay away from the "bad" ones. The problem with this way of thinking is the bad foods become the only ones we want.  Read more >
