    I've been a member of an online dating site since July 2008; I've never suspended or canceled the service since it was activated. It's always there, ready for me to use if I feel like it, but my frequency of use has varied widely.     Ever since I moved into a studio in January, I find myself drawn to stories and photos of other studio apartments, as well as the people who live in them. I want to know how they arrange their furniture, and if living in a smaller space suits them. I wonder if their space feels crowded because they're trying to fit too much into a limited amount of square footage or if everything flows like it should.  Read more >

  5. Let the Decorating Begin

    It wasn't until recently that I became interested in decorating. When I was living with my sisters throughout my late teens to mid-twenties, doing anything with my apartment other than the bare minimum wasn't something that ever crossed my mind.   7. What Expectations Do We Have for Friends vs. Lovers?

    On a recent Saturday night, I agreed to accompany a male friend (I'll refer to him as B-) to a work function.   8. I Live Alone, But I'm Not Lonely

    I've been living in my new apartment for over a week. It's been everything I expected it to be: my commute to work is shorter because I'm living closer to a Metro station; I've unpacked all my boxes, broken them down, and discarded them; I've ordered a bookcase and a TV stand. However, what I'm really proud of is the number of visitors I've had -- seven of my friends came by just this week, which doesn't include the six people who helped me move in -- to check out my new space.  Read more >

    On more than one occasion, a guy that I've gone on multiple dates with will suddenly break off contact with no explanation. Sometimes I don't think anything of it, but depending on how much I liked the guy, there are occasions where my feelings might be hurt a little bit. However, I have a self-defense mechanism that I employ, and so far it's worked very well.  Read more >

  10. Moving Day: It's Almost Here

    By this time next week, I'll have moved all (or most) of my belongings from the current two-bedroom apartment I share with a roommate to a studio that I'll be living in by myself.
