  1. Education and the Inner City

I've been pondering over the issues of education and the inner city at great length since last Spring when I registered Ruthie for kindergarten. We are a white, middle class family living in a diverse community with lower class and working poor families. About Me:

I'm a writer, mother of two, and wife to a tech geek. My blog is where I practice my craft - I liken it to what Anne Lamott calls, the "shitty first draft." I don't labor a lot over each word or the placement of each punctuation mark - I just write it all down before I forget, and hope to one day make sense of it all in a book.

My writing is pretty naked on topics such as depression, rage, marital conflicts and bliss, and attempting to parent well despite all of it. I welcome comments. In fact, I love the conversation and do what I can to bribe readers to comment. They mostly ignore me - even when I'm giving away free stuff.
