  1. Growing up, I was the skinny kid.  You know the kind, I could eat and eat and eat and never gain an ounce. But I wasn't exactly healthy. You see, I grew up in poverty.  We'd have weeks where the only food in the house was ketchup.  We'd make soup out of it.  During the school year, I'd be able to eat at school, but in the summertime, it was slim pickings. I started Fat Girl Gets Fit, my weight loss and fitness blog, in February 2009.  It was my attempt to get support and accountability.  It sort of worked.  People were extremely supportive, and I'd get bursts of motivation, but ultimately, I was still alone in the process.  I had various Wii fitness games.  ALL OF THEM.  LOL  And I used them.  Mostly...  And then motivation would wane, because I didn't really have anyone pushing me.  Read more >

    Ever get an idea spur of the moment and just run with?  I get a lot of those. Last week, I got the idea to help out a Twitter pal by doing a fundraiser on my blog Living on (Less Than) a Dime in order to get her a bread machine that had a gluten-free cycle.   4. So I'll be at BlogHer '09

    So, I'm going.  Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd be able to go.  It's just not in my budget.  It was so far out of the realm of the possibility as to be considered virtually impossible for me. And then... the miraculous happened. I won something. The Queen of Spain held this little contest.  Little?  No, HUGE!  She was giving away a free registration for BlogHer '09.  Wow.  Just wow.
