  1. Unidentified flying Rottweiler

I was trying to find an actual reason to post this short video of Axel and Freya enjoying some summer frisbee fun. Sorry. Don't really have one. Just watch!  Read more >

  2. July 15 is National Pet Fire Safety Day

Today is the third annual National Pet Fire Safety Day. I am embarrassed to admit that even though I am a firefighter's wife and our dogs, cats, and bird are all important parts of our family, this is the first year I was aware of this observation.  Read more >

  3. Remembering Jake

So you might think that the big dog-related news for this past Wednesday, April 14, was the one-year anniversary of the arrival of Portuguese Water Dog “Bo” at the White House. Well. That is far from the most significant dog event of the day. There is nothing, not one single thing, more important that happened on this day in dogs, or maybe this day in anything, than the birth of my "heart dog" Jake in 1992.  Read more >

  4. I have no justification for this post, other than wanting to show my very manly Rottweiler boy giving himself a pedicure. That is all.  Read more >

  5. Just having fun

I post to Going to the Dogs or Rottweilers Ate My Laptop about my dogs, and talk about doggie diets, or bulking up for an upcoming show, or getting things JustThisPerfect for a competition. It's the summer. I should be talking about just having fun. Because that's what dogs do.  Read more >

  6. While it seems that iPhones are the smartphone of choice for many BlogHers, I know there are still a lot of us out here who choose BlackBerry. The WordPress for BlackBerry public beta was released yesterday, and it looks good so far. They're responding to user/tester comments, questions and bug reports very quickly, and are pushing out updates already today.  Read more >

  7. With mid-season cancellations, the various writers' strikes, and my pet peeve of networks not giving slow-blooming yet promising shows enough of a chance to develop, it seems the lines between seasons are blurred. I am old and still remember when summer was strictly for re-runs!  Read more >

  8. I'm sure everyone has heard the news of Kodak retiring Kodachrome film today. Although the inevitable Paul Simon references have already gotten boring, and I have personally never used Kodachrome film because I never had the equipment nor the skill level to do so, I think we can all agree that some iconic and impressive imagery has been recorded with Kodachrome over the years. With that, I ask: does anyone here still shoot film as well as digital? What do you use film for as compared to what you shoot with digital?  Read more >

  9. Motorcycle musings

I thought about starting a group here at BlogHer for motorcyclists, but since I'm not actively riding at the moment, I put that thought on the back burner for a bit. Thought I'd talk about it anyway, just for one post!  Read more >

  10. I'm looking for a recommendation as to what would be a good digital SLR for a first-time buyer (me) who has owned and used a film SLR in the past, but is by no means an expert or even good photographer. The cameras I have been considering are: Nikon D40Nikon D60Canon EOS Rebel XS Suggestions and information regarding these cameras, or any others, would be much appreciated, please and thank you!    Read more >
