  1. Ballet, Birth Order, The Birds and The Bees

This is my first entry in 6+ months. I’ve been busy doing the same thing every other mompreneur has been doing, being with my family, trying to work (in my case start a new business as a portrait photographer) and keep everything together. Regardless of my varying degrees of success, life is great and my kids are a blast. My dear friend and college buddy, Super Mom, inspired this post...  Read more >

  2. Will I Attend College – Again – With My Daughter?

Our youngest daughter, Maddie, just turned five. She has slept in our room about 220 nights out of the last 270. No jokes here. She started in our bed and after a month or so, we told her it was her sleeping bag on the floor, or back to her room. I’m beginning to wonder if I’ll need to go away to college with her too. She’d better pack her sleeping bag in that case  Read more >

  3. The Tick Graveyard

My girlfriend and I took our two dogs and my two girls for a walk in the woods. It was a gloriously warm, but crisp Fall day. When we returned home we all felt a little itchy… We quickly found a tick on my youngest daughter. (In fact, I feel itchy just thinking about it). Next thing I knew we were all taking off our pants in the driveway because each had about a half-dozen ticks, and many more on each of the two dogs! We decided not to pick the ticks off and just drop them onto the driveway because they would jump right back on us.  Read more >

  4. Are You A Stressed Out Mom?

Lisa Belkin, of the New York Times, poses the question “What is your compromise?” in a Momversation video that she featured in her  Read more >

  5. Can You Resist The Sweet Look Of Your Children When They Say “Please Mommy”

My girls are 5 and 6 ½ years old.  I work full-time and sometimes think I must have the word “sucker” written in hot pink across my forehead (and that of course would be the only word my girls could read). I check in the mirror every day; I haven’t noticed the label on my forehead, it must be in my eyes though, because my children continually ask me for things that I should always say “no” to… When my family is having lots of fun playing a game after dinner and my girls want to play one more which would delay their bedtime  Read more >

  6. Is The Recession Making Us Fat?

A Newsweek article correlates the increase in the obesity rate with the recession. I do not think that the recession is making us fatter. But, it is a good excuse. During difficult times people often turn to anything that is comforting. “Comfort food” isn’t called comfort food for nothing.  Read more >

  7. Weisure Time – Can You Have It All And All At Once?

Work Time +  Leisure Time = Weisure Time.* Weisure rhymes with seizure, and I hope that that will not be the result of this crazy lifestyle of weisure that we created for ourselves. Basically, “weisure” is the loss of distinction between our work and leisure time. As we have more work than ever to do (and the economy doesn’t help) in combination with the ever increasing capacity of technology, it has become easier than ever to let our work slide into our leisure time. Our oh so smart phones contain our link to the rest of the world  Read more >

  8. Your Body Tells You When It Is Time To Slow Down - My Mac Does Too!

Work hard, play hard. That has always been my motto. Somewhere in that equation I need to figure out how to rest hard too. As my husband likes to point out, I tend to wear myself out so that I get so sick every 4-6 months to the point that I cannot get out of bed. Only a couple of weeks ago this happened. A normal person would realize that a little less work, a little more R&R, and some more sleep after being sick would help me to stay healthy. Not me. Even in my early 40’s I still think I’m invincible.  Read more >

  9. Huffing, Puffing and Growling – What Is That In Our Room?

I hear huffing, puffing, and growling. Did a wild bear break into our house and come into our bedroom. Oh yeah, there are no bears near where we live. Hmm, what could it be? More growls. I pull the covers up higher and roll cautiously towards where the noise is coming from; I carefully open only one eye in hopes of not being noticed by whatever gnarly creature is making such a racket. My husband is bigger than me, wouldn’t he make for a better midnight snack?  Read more >

  10. Zoe’s Granola & Chocolate Chip Cookie Cannot Be Beat

If you love chocolate chip cookies and you love granola, then this is the cookie for you. Just imagine biting into a delicious cookie that’s not too sweet but just sweet enough, that has just a hint of almond, some chewy chunks, and chocolate chips of course. Here’s the secret to truly delicious, chewy, chocolate chip cookies: Ingredients: 1 ¾ cups flour 1 tsp baking soda 1/8 tsp salt ¾ cup packed brown sugar ½ cup granulated white sugar 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter 1 tbsp milk (skim is fine)  Read more >

About Me:
I am a mom, wife, daughter, and friend, and last but not least, an entrepreneur. I started Zoe Foods because I've always been passionate about making a difference in people's lives and thought that a natural foods company would be the perfect way to do just that. I started my blog because juggling all of my different roles in life is out of control, and I'm just beginning to see the comedy in it all. So please join me on my journey and share your thoughts and experiences, and together we might just make someone smile.

Keep dreaming, keep believing, and keep achieving!

Best,
Tori ;-)
