Hi, I'm Beth Jameson, co-author (with my husband) of Brain Injury Survivor's Guide. We also maintain two information websites for families living with brain injury and, of course, I maintain Beth's Brain Injury Blog.
I suffered an anoxic brain injury in 1990 that totally changed my life. When I awakened from my medically-induced coma, I did not remember being married, nor did I remember having two children. I also did not know what make-up was for, much less how to put it on. Of course, there were many, many other memory, cognitive and behavioral problems that surfaced.
With my husband's unflinching support I was able to learn many strategies for living my new life. I was told I'd probably never be able to work again, but with Larry's constant teaching and assistance I was able to return to my previous job and actually get a promotion to Strategic Sourcing Analyst specializing in Cisco networking equipment. Yes, my brain still worked - just not like it once did.
The many strategies we learned for dealing with memory, cognitive and behavioral problems are the basis of our book and our websites. I still run into issues on a regular basis and write about those on my blog.
